Athlete Representatives

It is important to use the resources around you to make strides to a great career. In an effort to open the doors of communication between the future stars and those who help get them there, USATF has developed the Athletes Representatives section.

Athlete representatives (agents) can look here for topics pertaining to their athletes, while athletes can look here to find athlete representatives' contact information, what services they provide, and which athletes are represented by which athlete representatives. We hope this resource will aid in the development of a relationship that leads to great success.

Application Process

Please be advised that you will not be certified as a USATF-Authorized Athlete Representative for any year unless and until you receive written notification thereof from USATF for that respective year. This is true even if you were a USATF-Authorized Athlete Representative prior to January 1st of that particular year. Please also be advised that processing of your application (including conducting the mandatory criminal background screening) may take up to 45 days.

Requirements

• Individuals seeking authorization who are not renewing from the immediately preceding year are required to attend an educational seminar and satisfactorily complete a written examination in the year preceding authorization. The next educational seminar will be held during USATF’s 2011 Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri.
• For more details about the requirements of USATF's Authorized Athlete Representative program, please refer to Regulation 25 of the USATF Governance Manual, which is incorporated by reference into the application/agreement form between each applicant and USATF.

The registration fee is $500 for all applicants. This includes a non-refundable $150 application fee.

IAAF Forms

USATF is required to report to the IAAF those USATF-Authorized Athlete Representatives who represent U.S. athletes ranked in the IAAF World Top 30 lists.

Further, those USATF-Authorized Athlete Representatives who represent athletes ranked in the IAAF World Top 30 lists have the opportunity to apply for annual IAAF registration.

Forms for renewal of certification as an Athletes’ Representative by the IAAF may be obtained here. USATF will not endorse IAAF forms, however, unless and until the applicant has been certified as an Authorized Athlete Representative by USATF for the current year.
