Everyone needs to make hummus

Tonight I tried it out. I used this recipe and next time I will spice it up a tad more, but this snack turned into our dinner tonight. Does that ever happen to you?

Not pictured: Olive oil.

Toss it in the food processor.

Sprinkle with paprika and devour!
This turned out so nice and unlike the store bought version
(which now seems so greasy!)
and I can't wait to make this again for the
bridal shower I am throwing for my bestie.

Let's go shopping!

(were we not on the subject? oops, now we are)
I think we shall linger on that topic a tad longer.

The practical. Socks.

Oh my, what a pretty rug.
A great little tablecloth to plop over my wood table.

All time favorite candle, ever.
Cannot go wrong bringing one of these as a hostess gift.

A cute pincushion to get me sewing.

A french thermometer for the garden area.

Beauts! Yellow corsage sash.

Or skip all of that and dinner here would be lovely.

Be careful, this post jumps around.

Lately, I keep coming back to this umbrella and 3-tier stand,
both from Pottery Barn.
Possible birthday ideas, to those loved ones reading? (Hi!)

I had these cute shark cookies from Sunshine Bakes sent to Jon at work.

I have got backyard inspiration on the brain.
I am ready to get a move on with our outdoor space.
If you remember, this is what part of our backyard looked like when we moved in.
Scary, huh? And all that we have done with this space is remove the pool.
Now my best friend wants to have her bridal shower here--enter: fire-under-my-butt.
Also, when we first got this house, I was spray painting this, fixing that, and so on. Then we entered the lull where we had done the things we needed to make the place livable, but there is still a lot of beautification that needs to take place. Besides the backyard, we plan to design the guest room and home office next.
Prepare for home goodness ahead!

Chimichurri

Since the parsley in our garden was going gangbusters, I decided tonight would be a good time for Chimichurri sauce. A tangy sauce from Argentina used mainly over steak. Since we aren't big red meat consumers, chicken will do.

Gather everybody up!

And throw into a food processor. Suuuper easy.

And there you have a rather healthy meal, and I wasn't even trying!

Do you sleep with your cell phone on your nightstand?

I do. Only because I use it as my alarm clock, not because I need to check my phone constantly or anything like that. I realized I need a real alarm clock with all the studies coming out about cell phones causing brain tumors and the like. Talk about boring shopping.
The only ones I can stomach are these retro looking ones. Too bad the first one isn't even a clock, just a radio. But it is sort of cute enough to just have as a radio while I do the dishes or something.
(I can hear Jon laughing from 10 miles away right now).

Weekend Scenes

Weekend flowers. My first time seeing drumstick
at the farmer's market!
I quickly snapped these shots before meeting
Sweetie Pie Jackie for lunch.

The romper search is over! I picked up this simple one at Target.

I assembled these fruit skewers for a party.
They were a huge hit, especially amongst the kids.

Galvanized horse trough turned adult pool. It reached the mid 90s this weekend and Jon and I didn't know what to do with ourselves, so we picked up this baby at the feed store,
filled er up and climbed in!
It is really huge and we will use it to plant bamboo
in after the urge to "swim" in it subsides.

Noshed on some popsicles I made from strawberries, blueberries and yogurt.
Recipe in this month's Everyday Food.

Goings On

We made some killer Cobb salads lately. Will you look at that beast? The idea stemmed from needing to use the lettuce in our garden, but funny, looking at this picture you can barely see it under the mountain of avie, bacon, cheese and egg. Highly recommend.

It was a good mail day. I got my ring from HauteLook (if you want to join, leave your email in the comments and I'll shoot ya an invite). I was nervous buying since you have to buy two different sizes within the same ring. It fits! and you can flip flop it either way, so you could possibly wear it 8 different ways between fingers.  And its only slightly weird typing with it on.

Lastly, I got my blogging (instead of "calling"-no phone number) cards. SweetBeaker made them and I could not be happier with the quickness, quality and packaging. I will probably only hand them out to family and friends, but I had an urge last week to get them. And they match my header.
