Fighting to clear his name: Russell Brand will fight a $550,000 lawsuit after being accused of running a security guard over
Russell Brand is set to fight a $550,000 lawsuit in court after being accused by a security guard of running him over.
The 37-year-old comedian is being sued for $185,000 in damages by LA security guard Victor Sneed, who alleges that the Rock Of Ages star ran him over in his Range Rover last year.
Brand, who was first sued by Sneed for $25,000 last year, is strenuously denying the claims, and insists that Sneed was the 'cause of the accident and any injuries he sustained'.
The Rock Of Ages star also blames Sneed for his 'own negligence' following the incident outside a chemist last year, according to court papers.
However, Sneed claims his huge medical bill needs to be paid for injuries to his left hand, left arm, left hip, neck and left wrist.
He also alleges he has already forked out $45,000 in medical expenses and requires another $140,000 for future surgeries.
Lawyers will now spend the next 12 months gathering evidence on the incident before the case goes to court.
And while Brand insists he was not to blame for the accident, if he loses the case then legal fees could triple the $185,000 sum.
Behind the wheel: Security guard Victor Sneed alleges that Brand, who passed his driving test two years ago, hit him with his Range Rover
It's
not the first time Brand has been the subject of controversy, he landed
himself in hotter water in 2011 after a smashing a photographer's
iPhone in New Orleans.
He got off with community service and a fine.
And last month, Russell got a traffic ticket in the US after turning the wrong way out of a car park.

Being knocked down on the pavement by a grinning screwy eyeballed Brand hovering along on his luxury mystery machine like meditation mat would be stressful too so i'm glad that mini magic carpet hasn't been invented.
