Daisy in red! Carey Mulligan shows off her VERY slender figure in a stunning strapless dress at the star-studded Great Gatsby première

She is said to have beaten a slew of top Hollywood names to the prestigious part of Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrman's film remake of the Great Gatsby.
So Carey Mulligan made sure she looked very much a leading lady as she stepped out at the film's New York première on Wednesday night.
The 27-year-old British actress looked striking in a bright red strapless Lanvin midi-dress which she teamed with black peep toe heels.

Carey's blonde hair was swept back into an updo and she wore minimal jewellery as she strolled down the carpet at Manhattan's Lincoln Center.
The dress showed off the star's slimmed-down figure with toned arms and legs.
She was joined by co-star Leonardo DiCaprio who plays the lead role of Jay Gatsby - a self made millionaire who is madly in love with the shallow Daisy.

Also on the carpet was Carey's co-star Isla Fisher, who plays Myrtle Wilson in the film based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel.
The Australian actress wore her long red hair loose over her shoulders, teaming her outfit with a slick of pink/red lipstick with a black bracelet and clutch bag.
The actresses have both been effusive in their praise for DiCaprio's performance as Gatsby with Isla calling him 'multi-dimensional.'

She added to Access Hollywood: 'Leo’s fabulous in everything — he’s one of the greatest actors of our generation.
'But he has gone further than you could ever have imagined with this character, and really made [Gatsby] so multi-dimensional, and so flawed and so vulnerable, and yet so macho and sexy — everything that you want in Gatsby.'
Carey also 'loved' working with the actor, who she famously kissed during the audition for Daisy. 'It was amazing,' she said. 'From the first audition he was so incredible generous and sweet and was helping me the whole way through.'

Leonardo looked dapper as he arrived alone to the première in a smart dark blue suit, white shirt and matching tie.
He spent time chatting to waiting fans and having his picture taken before braving the waiting press line.
The
star, who has taken some time off from making movies, was showing off a
distinct tan as he posed in front of the movie's poster.
He also chatted with his friend and co-star Tobey Maguire, who plays the film's narrator Nick Carraway.

'This is arguably the greatest American novel,' he recently told 60 Minutes. 'Everyone has their own connection to this book, so you are almost setting yourself up for disaster in a lot of ways.
'It's an incredibly ambitious
undertaking,' he added. 'Not just to portray Jay Gatsb but to just do
the novel. I remember reading the novel as a youth and seeing it as a
traditional love story.
'Picking it up as an adult, you realise what a great tragedy Jay Gatsby is. He is a very hollow character, a very empty one and a very tragic person.'

The film's unique soundtrack was also well represented, with Jay-Z and Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine arriving at the event.
Florence looked typically striking in a long navy blue dress with beaded collar and tie detail, with her bright red hair teased into a retro-style updo.

Jay-Z executively produced the soundtrack which features a cover of Amy Winehouse track Back to Black by Beyonce.
Lana Del Rey, Bryan Ferry and The XX are among the other artists featured on the soundtrack.

Anjelica Huston bizarrely kept her sunglasses on as she posed in a black blazer, black dress and heels, while Nina Dobrev looked stunning in a black and gold patterned dress and matching gold sandals.
U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour plumped for a chic white dress with matching sandals, while Martha Stewart looked a little more eclectic in gold sequinned pedal pushers, a white top and camel coloured coat.

I like Carey Mulligan as an actress but I have to say that the lady herself is looking rather pale. I hope she is ok.
