Paulina Porizkova, the 48-year-old supermodel who rose to fame as a Sports Illustrated cover girl in the early Eighties, showed off her impeccable genes earlier this morning with a revealing bikini shot.

The Czech-born mother-of-two, tweeted an image of herself in 'total heaven' at Iceland's Blue Lagoon, a geothermal luxury spa.

Proving just how kind three decades has been to the model-turned-actress, Ms Porizkova showed off her toned figure in a skimpy black bikini.

Although Ms Porizkova is happy to pose make-up free when she's not on shoots, she has recently been candid about the use of retouching in beauty advertisements.

The model, who appears in a controversial ad for Avon's anti-aging, Anew range, told the New York Post earlier this year: 'You haven’t seen a picture in a magazine [that isn’t retouched] since at least Adobe Photoshop came out.'

The comment came after New York resident, Jade Barrett branded the products 'snake oil' for not living up to their promise.

Ms Barrett's lawsuit compares a 'wrinkly' unretouched photo of Ms Porizkova from 2011 with her 'highly embellished' image in the Anew campaign.

Ms Porizkova said that she does not know whether her Avon Anew campaign was airbrushed, but emphasized that a good photographer and lighting can be just as effective. 'Do I look better in some pictures than others? I'm sure,' she said.

The model, who in 1990 and 1992 was chosen by People magazine as one of the world's Fifty Most Beautiful People, was also named by Harper's Bazaar as one of its ten most beautiful women that same year.

Twenty years later, her fans on Twitter carried on the sentiment.

One wrote: 'Girl you still got it! #hot #sexy #beauty,' while another exclaimed: 'Holy Guacamole-how can you still have that body?! What are you eating? Spill your secrets!!'

The Vogue cover model also proved that she had what it took to light up the dance floor with an appearance on Dancing With the Stars in 2007.

The following year, Ms Porizkova became a more ubiquitous media presence as she became a judge on the hit CW series America's Next Top Model and saw her first book, the fiction novel A Model Summer, released in paperback.

Ms Porizkova revealed on Twitter last week that she is currently working on another book, 'or should be instead of Twittering,' she joked.

She was one of the hottest women in her modelling years and my God she still looks fantastic at 48. She looks so natural too, no boob job, no lip job and no tattoos. Simply a gorgeous woman.

She's one of the best role models out there for aging gracefully with perhaps a pint of good genes. Classy ladies have no surgery/botox!

- Izzie of Boston , Boston, Paulina's mother is not Swedish, both parents are Czechs they flew to Sweden to escape the communist regime in Czechoslovakia (today's Czech Republic) . Even her husband Ric Ocasek is Czech. The famous makeup artist Linda Mason said she never used foundation on Paulina because she didn't need it. She landed a six million dollar a year deal with Estee Lauder which was the post prestigious makeup company in the world in the 80s. She was simply the most beautiful woman in the world. It's no wonder she's still gorgeous, she has always been a natural beauty. In my next life, I want to look like her, fingers crossed !
