Their bandmate may be on the slow road to recovery but The Wanted obviously don't want to let their fans down as they took to the stage as a foursome on Monday.

A rather suave Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Max George, Tom Parker took to the stage at the E! 2013 Upfront event at The Grand Ballroom at Manhattan Center in New York on Monday

Just hours earlier Nathan Sykes grinned as he was wheeled out of hospital after having emergency surgery on his vocal cords.

The 20-year-old singer appeared in good spirits after his surgery, which rectified a haemorrhaging vocal cord.

In dapper outfits the new foursome, who are recording a reality show as they try and break America, looked like they had a great chemistry onstage without Nathan.

Wearing smart jackets and skinny jeans or suit trousers in the case of Siva, the Glad You Came singers wowed the crowds with their energetic routine.

Following the operation,Nathan was ordered not to speak for seven days to help with his recovery.

He tweeted on Friday, the day after his operation: 'Morrrnin!! Tough day yesterday. Now onto a week of not talking. Joy.(sic)'

He added the following day: 'Frustrated. Just want my voice back.'

It was revealed earlier this month that Nathan would require specialist surgery for the condition - the same condition that threatened to wreck singer Adele's career.

Nathan had battled with throat issues for a while but after an appointment with a specialist, he was instructed to have almost immediate surgery.

The operation means that Sykes has been ruled out of recording sessions for the  band's new album, and potentially their world tour which was due to start later this year.

And the band are also in the middle of filming a TV show for E! Entertainment in the US, with a new album scheduled to drop in early summer.

A source close to the star told MailOnline: 'It came as a shock to the boys, and they want to get behind him as much as possible and help speed his recovery. They're staying positive for him.

'The rest of the band will go on as they have so many worldwide commitments they have to carry on.'

It has been speculated that Sykes had his operation carried out by the surgeon who successfully operated on Adele.

However Adele's surgery took place at a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts by the surgeon who previously treated Julie Andrews, Cher and Roger Daltrey of The Who.

The comments on here are actually disgusting, you are grown adults most of you and you are making such snide comments that you would expect someone of my age, 17, to make. It's ridiculous, who are you to judge anyone? In fact, who is anyone to judge a person?! Have you honestly got nothing better to do with your time? Or is it really that much fun slating other people on their looks? At the end of the day, different people find different people attractive, so once again, who are you to judge whether 'Tom looks likes a druggie' or not. Personally I think they are all attractive in their own special way, so please shut up, and grow up. This is not aimed at all of you by the way, just the ones that are slating the wanted on their appearance.

He honestly has a stunning voice, and I wish him all the best in his recovery, such a shame to say he's just turned 20 a few days ago and is now faced with this, hope his voice comes back as good and as strong as it was before
