Who needs publicists when you have director Bryan Singer?

The director has once again sent X-Men fans into a frenzy tweeting a picture of Ellen Page back in the clothes of mutant Kitty Pryde on Friday.

The star will reprise the role of the young superhero with the power to levitate and phase in the new film X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

The 26-year-old has been given a bit of a makeover for the latest movie, with Kitty's costume changed from modern looking motorcycle leathers with pink trim to a more organic brown leather jacket that appears to have been inspired by the Hunger Games.

Ellen played the young mutant before X-Men: The Last Stand, but this will be her first time working with director Bryan.

The simple photo of the actress staring at another cast member was met with lots of excitement and follows a number of images released by the director, including one of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine earlier this month that really caused social media pandemonium.

Despite it only being from the back, the sneak peek of Hugh wearing the 'day clothes' of his character James 'Logan' Howlett was more than enough for X-Men fans with the picture.

This will be the Australian star's seventh time reprising the role of one of the most popular mutants.

Hugh will also be seen as Wolverine this year for a solo spin off based in Japan, The Wolverine, that is in theatres this July.

Director Bryan has certainly done his best to single-handedly create excitement in the X-Men fan community giving the world early glimpses at Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier, Nicholas Hoult's Beast, Halle Berry's Storm and Shawn Ashmore's Iceman already.

This is a good thing for fans, who have a long time to wait for the latest installment of the series as it is not due out until July 18 2014.

In this film - which sees X-Men characters brought together for two previous reincarnations of the popular comic - the heroes will be forced to go back in time to 1973-set follow to change a major historical event that could globally impact on man and mutant kind.

"Kitty's costume changed from modern looking motorcycle leathers with pink trim to a more organic brown leather jacket that appears to have been inspired by the Hunger Games..." What? How so? These franchises have nothing to do with each other!

@ Tom, Texas---- Marvel have lost the rights to the X-Men to Fox. So these films are all produced and distributed by Fox. The director of 'First Class' did say he was influenced more by Marvel though.

Believe me, NO ONE is excited to have Halle Berry back as Storm- themanlikedave, Herne Bay, Her stupid monologues were terrible in X-men 3, apparently she demanded them so that Storm was a more central character. Shame she's a bad actress.

I dont consider these films x men films. Changed iconic plots, no costumes? its like superman or batman turning up in a leather jacket. Like much film these days , no ambition.

Am I the only one who finds Ellen Page's acting rigid and pretty boring? She always plays the same kind of character.

@ Dakoka..............X-men First Class AND Days of Future Past are done by Marvel Studios. They are only distributed by Fox. A comic book geek like yourself should have known this...

I am so glad she likes men. I was shocked when supposedly tolerant people outed her, which has proven to be false!

Ellen Page is my favorite actress. She should play more challenging roles like Juno. She has the talent.
