Is that you Gwyneth? 'Most Beautiful' actress is barely recognisable with wet hair and no make-up as she leaves home

She was named the World's Most Beautiful Woman by People magazine in April, but passersby would have been hard pressed to recognise her in New York on Wednesday morning.

Gwyneth Paltrow was spotted with wet hair and no make-up as she left her apartment for a photoshoot, two days after she donned pink Valentino at the Met Ball and the morning after a groomed appearance at the Apple store in SoHo.

Clutching her iPhone in one hand, the busy mother-of-two wore an '80s-style white leather jacket with zipper detailing and layered T-shirts.

The self-styled diet and exercise expert was also swimming in her skinny jeans.

She spoke about her no make-up look to People.

'Around the house, I’m in jeans and a T-shirt. I don’t really wear make-up,' Paltrow told the magazine.

The Shakespeare in Love star went on to explain that her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, even jokes about it when she gets glams up.

The actress explained: 'If I’ve gotten fully dressed up, he’ll be like, "Oh, wow! You’re Gwyneth Paltrow!" Because he’s used to seeing me in, like, baggy shorts and frizzy hair.'

It's no wonder the Oscar winner looked tired on Wednesday after her busy week. After Monday's Met Gala with her husband, she spent Tuesday night promoting GOOP.

Paltrow proved just why she deserves the honour of Most Beautiful while leaving the Apple store in New York City's SoHo neighbourhood on Tuesday.

The Avengers actress slipped into a pair of cropped trousers that accentuated her toned figure as she promoted her new GOOP City Guides app.

Gwyneth teamed the skintight jeans with a black sleeveless top that featured a plunging neckline and a cutout back.

It was clear from the back that, even after two children, Paltrow doesn't even need to wear a bra.

She added a pair of studded heels to the ensemble and carried an over-sized leather clutch.

Before leaving the store, the Contagion star graciously signed autographs for a cohort of male admirers.

On Monday night, Gwyneth appeared at the Met Gala wearing a long-sleeved Valentino Haute Couture Corolle gown in a bold shade of hot pink.

The actress told Vogue.com of the dress, which seemed out of sync with the evening's PUNK: Chaos To Couture them: 'I guess it's punk in that I've gone just totally classic on a punk night.'

At the event, she gushed over supermodel Miranda Kerr, 30.

Appointing the model's dress as one of her favourites from the night, she added: 'She's just so pretty, it's abnormal.'

Gwyneth explained to Us Magazine about how she approached the Aussie beauty, who appeared to admit it was easy being attractive.

'I was like, "Is it weird to be that pretty?" And she was like, "No."'

Her GOOP City Guides iPhone app will include Gwyneth's recommendations for eating, drinking and shopping in Los Angeles, New York and London.

Her appearance at Apple's SoHo outpost was part of the company's Meet The Developer speaking series.

NYC does that to your hair, (humid in august!) I went there with sleek straight hair and by the end of the first day I had a candy floss on my head. I'd be happy to suffer the dreaded frizz just to be back there though.

She looks fine, but I still fail to see how she managed to be voted the world's most beautiful woman. Sophia Loren was once regarded as the most beautiful woman in the world. Wow, how our standards have slipped.
