She wears her obligatory white shirt and black trouser combination almost on a daily basis on her hit TV show, The View.

But Whoopi Goldberg shocked audience members when she sexed-up her attire on the programme Wednesday morning.

The talk show host tottered on stage in a pair of dangerously high red patent leather lace up thigh-high boots.

The bright saucy footwear somewhat distracted viewers as Whoopi's legs peeked out from underneath the famous View desk.

The 57-year-old had slipped on the shoes after seeing the Broadway show Kinky Boots the night before.

On Tuesday night, Whoopi excitedly tweeted 'saw Kinky Boots SEE THIS SHOW!!!!! Billy Porter fricken amazing score Cindy Lauper oFF the hook &Harvey Fiersteins book FAB CAST BRILLIANT'.

So in order to pay homage to the play, she decided to wear the outrageous footwear the very next day.

But Whoopi's feet paid the price from wearing the sexy stilettos all morning.

'Glad the kinky boots were a hit, was cranky today is all... Getting old I guess,' she wrote on her Twitter page on Wednesday.

The Cyndi Lauper-scored Kinky Boots meanwhile recently earned a leading 13 Tony Award nominations, with the British import Matilda: The Musical close behind with 12.

Kinky Boots is based on the 2005 British movie about a real-life shoe factory that struggles until it finds new life in fetish footwear.

Lauper's songs and a story by Harvey Fierstein have made it a crowd-pleaser.

The haul did not match the record number of nominations for a musical, which is 15, set by The Producers in 2001 and Billy Elliot in 2009. The Book of Mormon nabbed 14 Tony nods in 2011.

Lauper was delighted with the nominations haul, tweeting excitedly after they were announced: 'OmG! OMG!! wow we got nominated!! @KinkyBootsBway !!! OMG!!!
