She looks flawless on the June cover of Shape magazine wearing a white bikini.

But in her down time Britney Spears isn't always as polished.

The 32-year-old stepped out for a low-key breakfast date in Westlake, California on Thursday with her boyfriend David Lucado, looking somewhat scruffy.

The Toxic star was mismatched in a pair of cut-off denim shorts, a floral floppy sweater over a purple vest and a pair of dirty blue suede Ugg boots.

A messy ponytail and a make-up free visage shielded with tinted sunglasses finished her look.

Meanwhile, her law firm worker boyfriend looked equally laid back in a sports T-shirt, striped brown boardshorts and a pair of flip flops.

The couple arrived at the Westlake eatery in a white convertible Jaguar.

Britney appearance on Thursday is a far cry different from what she looks like on the June edition of Shape.

In an interview with the magazine, the star opened up about the hard work she's put into her health - and it has recently been showing.

On Tuesday, the publication teased her spread in the magazine on Twitter, posting a cropped photograph of an enviably toned stomach beside the caption: 'These abs look familiar, right, @britneyspears fans?'

Later, the magazine debuted the full version of the photograph, which shows a beaming Britney wearing a barely-there white bikini.

The caption read: 'Okay, guys, the wait is over! We're so excited to show you our gorgeous June cover featuring @britneyspears!!'

A source revealed to E! Online that the former Disney star is 'looking so great because she has been on a total fitness and workout kick.'

The source confirmed: 'She's been feeling really motivated and happy and it shows.'

The mother of two recently recorded a track for this summer's Smurfs 2 soundtrack.

She teased on Twitter: 'Remember that surprise song I recorded for my boys? It's coming soon! #OohLaLa for #TheSmurfs2 :) Stay tuned for more...'

The Las Vegas Sun reports the superstar also is finalising plans for a residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino's PH Live theatre.

Britney allegedly is in talks to sign a two-year contract with the venue.

The Till The World Ends crooner is expected to perform on the Strip every other weekend beginning in November.
