Real Housewives star Melissa Gorga celebrates daughter's First Communion with massive bash

It is the the religious ceremony that marks a child's initial reception of the body of Christ.

So what better way for Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga to celebrate her daughter Antonia’s First Communion on Saturday than by holding a mammoth party.

She made sure the seven-year-old's day was even more special by treating her to the bash, which the youngster attended in her traditional white dress and veil after the ceremony.

Showing off her daughter's gown on Twitter, Melissa said: 'Look at my baby girl!'

The family are renowned for their celebrations, and this was no different, with everyone in high spirits.

According to Radar the 33-year-old reality television personality was so happy she showed her children how it should be done when she played with a hula hoop.

Antonia smiled and held her dad Joe‘s hand as windbag Melissa, who wore a minidress and high heels, made a speech about her pride and joy to the family and friends in attendance.

Later, the three cut Antonia’s cake and Melissa and Joe danced together.

And their whole brood was involved, with their two sons Gino and Joey enjoying cotton candy and popcorn.

Fellow housewives Jacqueline Laurita, Caroline Manzo, and Kathy Wakile were also there to celebrate Antonia's milestone occasion.

Rather tacky and I doubt the priest approves. First Communion is supposed to be a solemn sacrament, with the focus on God. Many priests no longer allow kids to dress up in white dresses and veils, probably because women like this focus so much on image. What kind of message did all this give to her daughter?

Lovely family, but the communion dress is over the top (I'm catholic). At this age, dresses should be simple and sweet, not a prelude to a future wedding (even if you're wedded to God).

We all know what this occasion of First Holy Communion is. Accepting the sacrament of Christ. Something is really missing here...perhaps lack of humility, the display of materialistic hedonistic nonsense. Perhaps they worship two gods? There is only one.
