Every cloud... Everton could have an extra 10m to spend with Moyes departure

|

Everton could save 10million with David Moyes’ departure, giving their next manager extra clout in the transfer market.

Chairman Bill Kenwright is only likely to have to pay the Scot’s successor around half the Manchester United-bound boss’s 4million-a-year salary, which would make a significant difference over a five-year tenure.

Wigan’s Roberto Martinez, Cardiff’s Malky Mackay and Neil Lennon of Celtic are thought to be front-runners for the job.

Making savings: Moyes' successor is likely to earn half of what the Scot did in a year at Everton

Moyes will also be free to make bids for any Everton players when he joins United.

Marouane Fellaini has a get-out clause allowing him to leave for 23m and clubs in Russia are keen.

Leighton Baines would also interest Moyes but Everton’s 15m asking price for the England defender would make a deal unlikely, particularly if Fellaini is sold.

Moyes is certain he is leaving the club in a better state than it was when he arrived 11 years ago.

The Scot will take charge of the Toffees at Goodison Park for the last time tomorrow when West Ham provide the opposition.

'When I took over we were bobbing along not far off the bottom of the Premier League,' said Moyes.

'Now, it is a club that, on Sunday, will still be competing to be in Europe. That is a big thing.'

All that mone was surely worth it for all those trophies he won. 18 years blue filth, and counting. Keep it up Bill, everyone at Anfield admires the job you do.

Fellani wants to go to Chelsea doesnt he? Everton should hire Rafa, he is the best manager available at the moment. - Sao Paulo Blue , Sao Paulo, Brazil, 12/5/2013 14:31................... You really don't have a clue do you !!!!!

Neil Lennon? If Bill Kenwright oversees Lennon's appointment as Everton manager, he'd better brace himself for a backlash from the fans like he's never even dreamed of. Lennon has been a success in a league that possesses no real opposition. In fact, I think he'd need to answer questions if he hadn't won it! As for Malky Mackay? I won't even comment except to say that if these are the favourites in Kenwright's plans, it's clear that he's repeating his old trick of doing things on the cheap. This is the time that the Everton board should be looking to build on what David Moyes has done and show some ambition. I used to trust Kemwright that he had the best interests of the club at heart, but now it's clear that he's in it for his own ends and he should go, now.

Thought it was a nice gesture Clegg from Everton today. Letting Moyes take all the trophies he won with him...

Lazy journalism as usual DM. No such clause exists in Fellaini's contract, as confirmed by the player himself. Hardly in his best interests to lie about this is it?!!

Good luck to Moyes as Fergie's No 2

You seem to forget the several million we have lost in allowing moyes to run down his contract. In addition how much will it cost us to bring in a replacement whose club haven't been stupid enough to let their manager go for nothing. Another fine bit of management by our chairman, but as the press love him we never see a negative word. If it wasn't for moyes kenwright would have gone years ago because our club would be in the championship now based on our net spend this last 10 years. - Bob, Liverpool, 12/5/2013*********** It would have been better for Everton financially if Moyes had signed a contract but I don't think he's the type of person who would sign a contract with no thought of staying. I don't think he'll return to poach players either but it will be interesting to see what he does about Rooney especially as Ferguson hasn't even put him on the bench for the Swansea game..

TOTTENHAM Should Spend 35m On Baines and Fellaini ..them Splash Another 6m on Remy, 15m On Damiao,Mertens 8m and 6m on McCarthy! This would total up to 70m.. To Free Up Some Money Sell Bentley,Gallas,Parker and Assou Ekotto , That Should bring in about 20m. With Those Signings We Should Be Challenging For The Title!! I Personally Would Love To See Dzeko At Tottenham But i Doubt City Would Wanna Strengthen Rivals

I am confident that Moyes is capable of repeating his feat at Everton with or without the likes of Fellani and Bairnes -more specifically, building a Manchester United team to rival Everton's current stature.
