Sales after falling from TOP100 or TOP300 are not contained. Therefore, many artists' sales become still larger.
I see. So is there any way we can just get a clean total of an album, that includes ALL of it's sales? (like a certification, or some news about how much an album sold). Because if Like a Virgin sold around 900,000 while it was on the charts, that means it easily broke a million over the last 20 years.
thanks

So, all Japanese certs have occurred just from 2003-on? Maybe Like a Virgin will get certified at some point, then. What are other certs for Japan? Is 100K gold, and 200K platinum?

There is no different price in CD.
I do not know why a price which is different in LP and CT was set up.
The Regular price album and the cheap album usually existed in many overseas artists' album those days.
In the music companies, Japan only premium goods, such as a sticker and an original poster, were usually put into the Regular price album against cheap imports.
Hi, Mario, I think the data of "Like A Virgin" regular price and cheaper price, it's because regular price is for original album and cheaper price is for Maxi-Single. Like Whitney Houston's "I'm Your Baby Tonight", there's original album and Maxi-Single.

It's as follows when it arranges.

LP 494,420
391,340(Regular price LP)+103,080(2,000Yen price LP)

CT 239,280
198,760(Regular price CT)+40,520(2,000Yen price CT)

CD 201,730

Total 935,430
Where did you find 201,730 for CD sales?
Many years ago, I've got the data from a source who said Oricon Year Book 1985 just only listed LP and CT sales and no CD sales included...? So maybe your CD sales are from magazine? Which mean they are different from magazine list and year book list?
And, also I remember the issue of October 2000, listed Madonna's Top 10 selling albums said "Like A Virgin" sold 590,000 and "True Blue" sold 707,000 (both including LP, CT, picture LP).

I found the numbers from the Oricon annual chart magazine.
The CD sales TOP 50 appear in Oricon annual chart magazine in 1985.
However, there are no CD sales in Oricon Year Book 1985. It is from Oricon Year Book 1986 that CD sales appear in Oricon Year Book.

Hi, Mario, the CD sales Top "50" is for annual or for weekly? Did CD chart started in 1984? So, would you please post the overall annual CD sales chart for 1984 and 1985 (if there's one for 1981-1985), you can type Japanese for Japanese artists and English for international artists.

And also did Cassette chart started in 1981? So, would you please post the overall annual cassette sales chart for 1981 to 1985?

Thanks. :D

So... then, what are LAV's total sales (album) for time spent in the top 100- roughly 792,000? Didn't LAV & Other Big Hits (or whatever it was) chart separately from the regular album?

Thanks for the clarifications, guys- any other albums to post, or was all that info posted in one of the other threads? I know one of Ttue Blue's runs was posted somewhere, but not sure if it was all-inclusive.

Hi, would you please post charts and sales of Jamiroquai, I know he has 2 RIAJ million-selling albums for "Travelling Without Moving" and "Synchronized", and Billy Joel, too, thanks.

And can you please post the charts and sales of the following, RIAJ officially certified million selling albums?

Nine Lives/Aerosmith/1997-3-12
Thougher Than Love/Diana King/1995-4-27
Dub-I-Dub/Me & My/1996-2-10
Big, Bigger, Biggest/Mr. Big/1996-11-25
Fuyu No Sonata/Soundtrack/2003-7-4 -> What's this album? Never heard about it.

I believe there's more albums scanned close to million and missed the certifications.

Thanks.

Anju Suzuki is a Japanese actress.
Anju Suzuki recorded two songs in English in 1990 under the name Kakko "We should be dancing" and "What kind of fool". They were flops in the UK, but wasn't sure if they were released or hits in Japan....obviously they were not.

Thanks again for the information Mario.

1984 annual CD chart does not appear in Oricon annual chart magazine. However, #1 of annual CD chart is Thriller.(sales:27,431)
