'It's been amazing': Eliminated Ingo Rademacher admits he thought he'd go after two weeks as Zendaya goes through to Dancing With The Stars final
|
It was too little, too late.
Despite getting their highest scores of the season the night before, soap star Ingo Rademacher and partner Kym Johnson were eliminated from Dancing With The Stars tonight as the season's final four were revealed.
And there was a tense moment for Disney starlet Zendaya and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy, when they also found themselves in the bottom two.
Got to go: Soap star Ingo Rademacher and partner Kym Johnson were eliminated from Dancing With The Stars
But after Ingo and Kym's elimination on the semi-final results show - the 300th ever episode of the hit program - Zendaya and Val are safe and will be among the four couples to compete in next week's finals.
'The couple leaving right now is… Ingo and Kym,' Tom Bergeron said as some of the audience booed, and clapped, as the news was revealed to viewers.
'You two have had such a great spirit,' said co-host Brooke Burke Charvet, who added that Ingo had admitted earlier he was ready to go back home to his family in Hawaii.
All smiles: He praised Kym for having choreographed the most amazing routines
Safe: Zendaya and Val are safe and will be among the four couples to compete in next week's finals
'This has been an amazing experience. I thought I was going to be done after about two weeks.
'Kym has choreographed the most amazing routines and she catered them towards my two left feet, and it got us this far,' he joked.
'I've really got a ballroom frame now,' he added as he showed off his poise. 'I'll take that with me. I really want to see [the others] battle it out.'
Faith in her fans: Zendaya said she did the best she could do
They then did a final emotional twirl for the cameras before the remaining contestants consoled and commiserated them.
The pair had got all nines for their Great Gatsby-inspired Charleston the night before.
'There's always the fan vote,' said Ingo hopefully backstage before the final results were revealed.
'I have all my faith in my fans. I did the best I could do,' said Zendaya.
'It's all my fault [for ending up in jeopardy],' joked her partner Val.
First through: American football star Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff heard about their success
300th show: They got 10s from all three judges for their Argentine tango the night before
The first couple who discovered they were going to the finals was American football star Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff.
'Mama's going to be happy,' said host Tom Bergeron, in reference to Jacoby's mother's delight at his progress, after she wielded her own '10' score paddle on Monday night.
He lifted her in the air and twirled her around when they heard the news - as his mother celebrated in the audience.

Joyful: Country star Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough were extremely happy
Country star Kellie Pickler and Derek Hough plus Disney star Zendaya Coleman and Val Chmerkovskiy were next to discover if they were through.
Kellie and Derek got a perfect 30 for their Argentine tango as well as high marks for their Flamenco, while Zendaya and Val got a perfect 30 for their hip-hop routine the night before, but floundered with their NASCAR-inspired Quickstep.
'Kellie and Derek, you're going to the final!' said Tom Bergeron as the pair jumped up in the air and hugged.
'Zendaya and Val, you are in jeopardy,' said Brooke Burke Charvet as the audience booed in disbelief. 'We'll reveal your fate later.'
Results: Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke Charvet were the bearers of good and bad news
Zendaya, the youngest ever contestant on the ABC network show, had been a front-runner for weeks but slipped to fourth place after Monday's performance.
Meanwhile Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas, whose rumba and afro-jazz routines earned them a whopping 59 points out of 60 on Monday got good news when they learned they were going through.
'If you're going to steal something, steal the mirror ball trophy!' said Brooke Burke Charvet as the crowd roared, and Ingo and Kym went to hug them.
That was a reference to an earlier admission that she had been stealing bracelets from her costumes.
Brutally honest: Kellie told Derek he reminded her of her 12-year-old brother
Revelations: Mark Ballas revealed that Aly Raisman has been stealing bracelets from the costume department
The audience also got to see the contestants manning the cameras as they interviewed one another - with Kellie telling Derek he reminded her of her 12-year-old brother.
And Mark complained to Aly that she screams too much, while Jacoby appeared to break wind.
Then Mark revealed that Aly has been secretly taking bracelets that she wears for the costumes, claiming he found 'about 12' in her bag.
'I'm surrounded by spray tan kleptomaniacs,' joked Tom Bergeron after co-host Brooke Burke Charvet confessed she too had pinched a couple.
He later said Kellie had admitted she was planning to steal her tango wig.

Zendaya is trained in hip-hop (mostly), not ballroom! She is on a dance show, that does mainly hip-hop, not the Vienese waltz! It's not that easy to pick up ballroom dancing even if you've been doing other dances your whole life. It would obviously help, but it's not as if she'd been doing ballroom dancing the last few years... also if you watch some of her dances where she isn't wearing a dress that covers her feet, you can see her footwork isn't as refined so it's obvious she is struggling with it a bit. She's only 16, incredibly talented and is having fun, so what damage has she really done??
