When she’s on stage her fiercer side often makes an appearance as she belts out her big hits like Single Ladies.

But on Friday Beyonce revealed she keeps Sasha Fierce under control when she sings to her daughter Blue Ivy, because she's scared the little girl might 'hate' her performing voice.

Speaking on Daybreak Beyonce opened up about her special ‘mommy’ voice and what led her to make the decision to leave her ‘Beyonce’ voice for the stage.

When asked by presenter Kate Garraway whether she sings to her daughter Blue Ivy, she said: ‘I do but I have a mommy voice. I keep my Beyonce voice for the stage and I have my simple mommy voice.

‘I remember hearing a story about Celine Dion and she was like ‘when I sing my, I don’t know if it was her son, cried’. And that’s so interesting she has the most beautiful voice in the world and she’s like ‘he hates it’.

‘So I say well maybe I’ll just give a little simple nursery rhyme voice to my daughter.’

The singer, who is promoting Epic, a 3D CGI adventure comedy in which she voices Queen Tara, also spoke about what it is like being Beyonce.

She said: ‘It’s a lot of pressure, it’s a lot of pressure at times. I have my company and I am a businesswoman and I have a lot of people that you know I’m responsible for but at the end of the day I make my decisions based on my heart.

‘I can handle it.. at least most of the time.’

The 31-year-old continued revealing that as a role model she encouraged women to follow their dreams.

‘There’s a lot of people look up to me and I do respect that. Especially women I feel we need each other so much and we need to know how powerful we are,’ she shared.

‘So that’s really my message. Take care of your business, have your dreams, have your goals and know that it is possible, be the leader, be the president!’

And perhaps not surprisingly she said her music had always been the best way to express herself.

The mother-of-one said: ‘Music I know for me was the most important thing it gave me so much purpose and so much self-esteem because I felt like 'ok this is what I’m good, at this is my escape', it was my focus and I think we are able to communicate with music more so than anything.

‘Just travelling around the world seeing the power and how much unity it brings so many people, it’s really incredible. So always when I’m able to express myself with a song I’m able to translate my message a lot better for whatever reason.’

Beyonce also revealed to Daybreak that she has a less serious side, saying: ‘People take me a lot more seriously than I do, I’m aware of that so I have to be conscious of it but definitely I’m a goofball, I’m a goofball.’

As well as promoting her animated film, she is also currently in the middle of The Mrs Carter World Tour.

Earlier this week the superstar, who is rumoured to be pregnant with her second child, penned a handwritten apology letter to her fans in Belgium after cancelling a show on due to 'dehydration and exhaustion'.

What an awkward and unmotherly way of holding your own child.- beauté noire , Los Angeles, United States..............I am not a superfan or anything but I do think Beyonce is talented. However, your comment and similar comments like it are unjustified and unfair. It's as though you and others want to criticize something, anything about her, no matter how insignificant. So what if she's holding her child like that. Do you think she walks around all day holding her like that. I guarantee you, it won't be comfortable. OR could it be that she was just holding her like that for a few seconds while she got up from a seated position with the baby on her lap. Or maybe she just picked up the baby from the floor or sofa while the baby was facing forward. Geez, what next, would you be criticizing her for brushing her teeth left to right instead of up and down???

Did the idiot woman draw eyebrows on that child? I have never seen a baby's eyebrows look like that in the natural world.

Your comments: Why is she always holding that baby in such weird positions. Most babies would scream in some of the positions she holds her in.

Don't we ALL use softer voices when talking or singing to babies?
