He's arguably one of the most famous footballers of all time.

And now, after David Beckham's retirement from professional football, his son Brooklyn looks ready to continue the legacy.

It has been announced that 14-year-old Brooklyn has joined Queens Park Rangers' Under 14 academy side, who train near the Beckhams’ home in west London.

The news comes after David's retirement from professional football last weekend.

Brooklyn, who turned 14 in March, started playing at Spurs as a four-year-old and had a trial last with Chelsea juniors in January.

He was also on the Under 14 roster at LA Galaxy and would frequently join David on the pitch when he trained at Paris Saint-Germain.

David has spoken in the past about the difficulties of being a football-mad son of one of the most famous stars of the game on the planet.

'They've got a great life set up for them,' he told The Times. 'Obviously are boys and little girl are very lucky.

'But I think, as a parent, you always worry: "Have they got the hunger that I had as a kid?"'

He added: 'I'm as hard on my boys as my dad was. They always ask, "Did I play well?" I'll say, "You did alright, could have done better..."'

Last weekend, David, 38, was given the honour of captaining Paris St Germain during their final home game of the season against Brest and paid an emotional farewell as he brought the curtain down on a career spanning more than 20 years.

With his wife Victoria and their four children Romeo, Brooklyn, Cruz and Harper, watching from the stand, Beckham was given a standing ovation by players and fans from both sides as he left the pitch to be substituted in the second half.

A visibly upset Beckham was inconsolable as he left the field on 81 minutes.

it all boils down to who you know... there is no way Romeo would be a model without famous parents. He is not good looking at all. Brooklyn may be an ok footballer but nobody is going to reject him simply because of who his Daddy is.

Using his father's technique when taking a free kick? That's a good poise for anyone taking a free kick - famous father or not!

How sweet. One kid gets signed by Burberry. Another one gets a fast track to a foot ball club academy. Ain't it great living in a meritocracy.
