Controversy: Ke$ha has been slammed by a parent group for drinking her own urine on the show

Ke$ha has raised a storm of controversy by drinking her own urine in an episode of her new MTV reality series, Ke$ha: My Crazy Beautiful Life.

The US-based Parents Television Council, which advocates family-friendly TV programming, has slammed the singer for the episode, which it brands as ‘disgusting, vile content’.

The new series began last month, and the complaint was made soon after the episode had been broadcast.

"Why should we have to pay for this kind of garbage just so we can get access to Discovery, Disney, or the Golf channel?" the PTC wrote to its supporters. "It's outrageous - and it shouldn't be that way.

"Consumers deserve choice. We should all have the ability to choose and pay for only the channels we want to watch … but the cable industry won't let that happen without a fight."

The PTC has backed a campaign by Senator John McCain, to allow US cable viewers to pick their own channel packages, rather than receiving a bundle of channels which may be unsuitable for family viewing.

Ke$ha has recently attempted to make light of the urine stunt by claiming: "I heard it was good for you. That was, like, the rumour."

Parents of young Ke$ha fans may have another reason to shield their children’s eyes from the reality show.

Earlier this month, the singer revealed on Conan O'Brien's talk show that she composes music by trailing her breasts along the keyboard.

'They go onto the keys and I just let them tickle the ivories,' she told the bemused talk show host.

'They really just go crazy, and all of a sudden, I have these chord progressions.'

The singer also unveiled one of her zaniest looks while filming the video of her latest single ‘Crazy Kids’.

Putting a new twist on geek chic, Ke$ha wore bamboo-framed specs and styled her hair in multi-coloured braids.

I have never understood why she has managed to get her name out in the music industry... She's not attractive and she's not a great singer... Normally if they can't sing they get by on their looks or personality but she just doesn't hit the mark on anything...

Urine is actually 98% sterile in most cases. However, she looks a little mad.

Why is Ke$ha even famous to begin with!?! It's astonishing how talentless people like her can become famous. In an ideal world, she wouldn't be allowed anywhere near a microphone. She's vile!

This is the same woman who sang 'Die Young' to a teen audience. Pure music industry poison.

She's really not the least bit pretty! Surely she has the money to sort the nose and teeth out at least!

I just hope she doesn't drink other people's...

So... Tell your children not to drink their own urine. Maybe the problem is with your parenting if your child follows Ke$ha instead of listening to you
