'Today it's smurf day': Rita Ora takes the plunge and dyes her blonde locks bright blue for day of rehearsals

While she likes to mix it up when it comes to her clothes style, Rita Ora has always kept her bleach blonde hair just the same.

But now the star has taken the plunge and dyed her tresses bright blue, posting pictures of the results on her Twitter account for all of her fans to see.

With her usually light locks scraped back into a messy bun, the star posed at different angles to show off her new do.

Clearly pleased with the dye job, the Hot Right Now singer, wrote: 'Today it's smurf day :) #rehearsals #album2 #bluehairday.'

Just the day before the singer had been spotted shopping in central London with what looked like blonde hair sprouting out under her beanie hat, suggesting that she'd reached for the bottle of hair dye that evening.

And instead of hiding it away, embarrassed by the results, the 22-year-old clearly loved the garish new look, posting snaps for everyone to see.

Sticking to her usual eclectic style the star seemed to be wearing a grungy black hoodie, which had a Caravaggio painting printed across the front, and pair of metallic retro-style sunglasses.

She stuck her tongue out as she posed for the picture, holding up one of her hands so that she could show off her bright purple talons.

The star had been wearing the same black hoodie the day before, paired with white leggings, as she stopped by department store Liberty.

Clearly having an urge to splurge, she emerged with a friend who had armfuls of bags of bags, having obviously splashed the cash.

While her cryptic message didn't explain the reasoning behind her decision to take the plunge, she did hint at the fact that she was off to another set of rehearsals in the run-up to festival season.

Earlier in the week the singer has tweeted pictures of herself in rehearsal for her upcoming performances, looking sultry in hotpants and stockings.

Rita is set to play some big festivals this year including Parklife, Yahoo! Wireless and As One In The Park, so preparations have started already with the singer back in the studio, adding some choreography to her sets.

The star has recently gone public with her romance with Calvin Harris, who she was spotted walking hand-in-hand with through Londo last week.

You're all just nasty people. Think of it this way, tomorrow you all will be back in work or at school while she travels the world doing what she loves to do and meeting new people. So what if she has blue hair or has someone take a photo of her. If you knew a picture was going to be seen by thousands, wouldn't you want it to be good quality? If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.
