He found success on the small screen with sitcom Breaking In.
But Christian Slater will not have to resort to such desperate measures after splashing out $2.2m on a fancy south Florida home.
The father-of-two will no doubt be delighted to have landed the luxury property in the historic Coconut Grove neighbourhood.
An interview with the realtor: Christian Slater has just shelled out $2.2m on a fancy south Florida house
It is the oldest modern continuously-inhabited neighborhood in Miami-Dade County, with the first wave of settlers going as far back 1825.
That will have surely been a big draw for history buff Christian, who came to prominence after starring as Will Scarlett in Kevin Costner's medieval romp Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
The Italian-style villa is a meticulously renovated 1926 estate on a fancy gated street in the popular holiday spot.
Named Villa Dolce Far Niente its name is roughly translated as a house of blissful idleness.
Merry man: The Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves star will love cooking up treats in the well equipped kitchen
Tabling an offer: This wonderful dining room was no doubt a big draw when Christian toured the property
The white room: If the rock and roll fan wants a more laid back breakfast vibe he can eat in here
Rubbing his hands together: History buff Christian will be excited to be living in the Coconut Grove neighbourhood
A long brick driveway leads to the 3,440 square-foot property, which boasts a welcoming grand foyer entrance.
Inside it boasts dark hardwood floors, arched doorways and french doors.
Of Paramount importance: Buying a house with a home cinema so he can force guests to watch his old hits would have been on Christian's checklist
Broken in: But the Hollywood star will probably insist on having his own mattress installed in the bedroom
It has an all-white eat-in kitchen includes statuary marble floors and stainless steel appliances, while the the formal living room features a fireplace.
The dining room is framed by arched mahogany french doors, which lead out to a pleasingly green outdoor area with patio and large heated pool.
There is also a private, self-contained guesthouse which has a full bedroom setup with a luxurious steam-shower in the bathroom.
On the pool: The reformed wildman will get to enjoy the quiet life lounging around the swimming pool
True Romance: The fact the house is already named in Italian will have given it an extra air of mystery
