Surely Katherine Webb must be hungry.

The Miss Alabama 2012 winner and Splash reality star has opened up about how she keeps her enviable 5'11" model  figure, and it doesn't come easy.

After revealing a daily food intake that only adds up to only 1,120 calories a day, the bombshell brunette beauty queen has now prompted fears that she may be risking her health by being so restrictive.

Webb, 24, who sky-rocketed to fame in the US when she was spotted cheering on her Alabama quarterback boyfriend A.J. McCarron from the sidelines of the college football national championship game in January, dished on her eating habits to People magazine, but got a harsh reaction from their nutritional expert.

'Katherine does an amazing job of eating three meals a day and two snacks,' explained The Fast Metabolism Diet author Haylie Pomroy, but considering that she works out three times a week, 'She could add at least 600 more calories.'

The slim pickings on Katherine's plate every day sometimes begins with a homemade smoothie consisting of strawberries, banana, protein powder and almond milk.

Lunch is a simple spinach salad with almond pieces and more fresh fruit, while dinner is a surprising combination of grilled chicken fingers, fat-free honey mustard and sweet potato fries.

Add in Webb's daily snacks of a green apple and Weight Watchers frozen yoghurt bar, and you don't have a whole lot of food.

Katherine caught the attention of America when sports announcer Brent Musberger made inappropriate comments about her during the Alabama-Notre Dame football game earlier this year, calling her a 'lovely lady' and beautiful.'

After the incident, the number of followers on Webb's Twitter account jumped overnight from about 2,000 to over 175,000, with NBA star LeBron James among them.

Determined to find fame in her own right and not stay in the shadow of her athletic beau, the stunner form Montgomery, Alabama, recently starred in celebrity dive competition Splash but was pushed off the springboard last month.

Go away!!! - Emac0823 , New York, United States, 23/5/2013 16:34 I've been saying this forever on the DM. She isn't famous in the United States so as to why British press covers her, I have no idea.

Some people eat to live and others live to eat. Sadly most of the world decides to be in the second catagory.

"Being so restrictive"? Roughly 1300 - 1550 calories is the normal calorie intake for a slim woman of average height. So she's eating only 200 calories or so less. So what? I am perfectly healthy - never even get a cold - and often eat considerably less than that, and more than 1500 calories a day would be pigging out in my book. (I am speaking strictly for myself, of course.) As April said, the real problem is that many people eat much too much for their own good. It's been known for many years now that the average European (not to mention Americans) eats THREE TIMES more than they should.

People eat way too much these days, that's the issue! We don't nearly need as much food as we think we do. Her calorie intake is actually quite nutritious and healthy. 500 calories for dinner is more then enough, which leaves 600 for breakfast & lunch. It states she works out three times a week but it doesn't say what she does during those work outs. Someone who does pilates & yoga doesn't need as many calories as someone who runs or lifts weights.

Sorry but there's no way she's eating that level every day. Maybe at the time they took the first photo, but not the rest of them (I'm not saying it's a bad thing or a good thing, just calling it out as an un-truth).
