A 10-year anniversary report from Harvard has given a glimpse into the bizarre boastings of former students at one of the world's most prestigious schools.

From poetically musing the places they have traveled, to revealing the ungodly hour they had to rise to promote their latest book on morning television, it is clear alumni from the Ivy League school's class of 2003 are not like those of most colleges.

Vanityfair.com picked a selection of the best bragging life updates, after the official-looking red book landed in its mail room this week, and the dream of 'having a house with a Japanese bath to soak in on cold nights' may just take the cake.

Another pondered about dreams more generally in their submission to the journal, which is published to update former students on what their college pals have been doing the past decade.

'Having a dream is like carrying a compass,' the alum wrote. 'It more often than not leads me in the right direction, but it's also a constant hustle... I love stories of football players gearing up for draft day.

'The low-round picks, trying to prove themselves, waking up at 5:00 AM to train, their entire family depending on them to make it. And then you get the call. The hustle begins again.'

A third graduate poetically described a recent visit to London, a not entirely off-the-beaten-track destination.

'She's a cool mistress, this wondrous London: ever forgiving but never one to forget,' the unnamed Harvardite wrote. 'I have returned to her triumphant, lost it all and been broke, then made it again, under her sight, to once more be loved by this, the greatest of the world's cities.'

Other alumni talked about hobbies they've taken up in the decade since they left the leafy Massachusetts college.

'I've recently taken up boxing in the tradition of Teddy Roosevelt (1880),' one wrote.

While some of their college pals wrote their entire life story, and unsurprisingly they were not particularly humble about it.

'Published fifty-plus magazine features... published a series of books in the US, UK and Italy. Awoke at times like 3:00, 3:15, and 3:20 to promote said books on morning television shows... Ran a half-marathon,' one revealed, among numerous other things including how they met their husband.

"With all due respect, why the hell would anyone care? I live quite near Harvard, and the lot of them are unintelligent, arrogant, ill-bred non-entities." - MacArthur, Boston, 24/5/2013 8:31 I love how "with all due respect" is almost always followed by something utterly crass and disrespectful. If you hate them so much, move. Space is at a premium in Cambridge/Somerville, and I'm sure the University would pay you a lot for your land. Perhaps they'll use it to build facilities for a reinstated ROTC program.

I actually had no idea that these things were sent out to anyone other than our classmates and university staff. Oh, and bearister--quite a few of my fellow "pompous twits" have served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I served in the Marines before I attended. For a university that refused to host an ROTC program in protest of Don't Ask Don't Tell (I attended long before the repeal, not sure what the status is now), we had quite a few people in my class that served either before or after attending. A handful even made the frequent trip to MIT to participate in their ROTC program. So, since you brought it up: Tell me bearister, when did you serve? And where did you go to school?

I'm betting they're not bragging about the size of their student loans. - Alexandra , New York USA, 24/5/2013 13:01......Actually Harvard graduates have very little debt. Only students with very rich parents pay full price tuition at Harvard- and it goes withour saying they do not take loans. Even middle class students' tuition is heavily subsidized by the university and poorer students pay almost nothing. Nice having a $30 billion endownment huh? But I know bashing Harvard is fun right? - thebin , New York, 24/5/2013 16:37 It would even be nicer if they paid taxes on the endowment investment income.

Who thinks it's a big deal to get up at 3:00 to go on TV to promote their book? That is just silly. Everyone has to get up very early or work very late sometimes. There are times I haven't even left left work yet at 3:00.

This reminds me of my favorite line from Good Will Hunting, "You wasted $150,000 on an education you coulda got for $1.50 in late fees at the public library."
