She's about to release her fifth studio album and marry a rock star 10 years her senior.
So, whilst Here's To Never Growing Up hardly seems an appropriate title for Avril Lavigne's upcoming album, the 28-year-old does not appear to have aged a day as she features on the cover of Nylon Magazine.
The iconic singer and songwriter bears all in the upcoming edition of the magazine, opening up about herself, her upcoming album, and her relationship with fiance, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.
No more baggy army pants! Avril Lavigne posed for Nylon Magazine's upcoming issue in a series of much more mature outfits, whilst remaining faithful to her grunge style
Avril, whose success began in 2002 with her hit single Complicated, is now 11 years into her music career.
The singer posed for the magazine in various outfits, all faithful to her signature grunge style.
Her trademark panda eyes remain intact, and she still barrels the camera lens with that vampy, tough-girl gaze.
This is new! In one of the more surprisingly demure shots, the Complicated singer blows a kiss to the camera
Her long blonde tresses are somewhat
more manicured than what her fans will be used to, adding somewhat of a
more mature slant to the look.
Another noticeable addition to Avril's image is the tattoo she shares with her fiance, Chad Kroeger.
Written on her left arm is 'vivre le moment present', which means 'live in the present moment' in English - the pair got the tattoos together (Chad's first tattoo ever) when they were in France.
Those weren't there in 2002! The 28-year-old singer looks picturesque in a black dress as she shows off her engagement ring and the tattoo she shares with fiance Chad Kroeger
In one shot, the Sk8er Boi songstress wears a figure-hugging black leather skirt teamed with a white printed t-shirt.
We later see her in a black dress belted at the waist, followed by a leather jacket also faithful to Avril's punk rocker style.
Perhaps the most surprisingly demure of the collection is a shot of the singer pouting and blowing a kiss to the camera.
She's still Avril: The songstress has kept her signature panda eyes and that vampy gaze throughout her 11-year-long career
About her upcoming album (due for
release in September), Avril tells Nylon: 'Lyrically, I pushed myself to
talk about different subjects I haven't talked about before. I didn't
want to be so simple. I tried to really express myself and go deeper.'
The lovestruck singer also discusses
her relationship with Chad, saying: 'He's nice, and real, and kind. For
me, it's about having a connection on a deeper level. Be romantic!'
Avril goes on to say that her 'being herself' is somewhat of a personal mantra she lives by.
'I'm so transparent. If I'm not being
myself, I won't do well, and that goes for writing songs, work,
relationships, everything. And if I'm not happy, people are going to
know that.'
