'Bardot bangs!' Lauren Conrad debuts sultry new fringe on Instagram as she takes inspiration from old Hollywood

It's not unusual to lighten one's hair for the summer months.
But Lauren Conrad went one step further and debuted her brand new Bardot-style fringe on Instagram Wednesday.
It's quite a youthful departure for
the former reality star, who before her hair makeover was rocking the
trendy ombré, dip-dyed look.

The 27-year-old's rep confirmed her recent hair transformation, courtesy of her longtime stylist Kristin Ess, to Us Weekly on Thursday.
'Bow bow bang bang @kristin_ess' the designer captioned the makeover snap of her new look on Wednesday.
Before grabbing the scissors, Lauren made sure to run the idea by her 3 million Twitter followers first.
'With @Kristin_Ess and flirting with the idea of Bardot bangs... Thoughts?' Conrad wrote on Tuesday.

Lauren's hair was side-parted into
classic waves during her last public appearance promoting Malibu Rum's
70-calorie Island Spiced drink in New York.
Last year, she revealed that she was 'uncomfortable' with starring on MTV's Laguna Beach and The Hills.
'I’m not looking to go back,' the New York Times bestselling author told Access Hollywood.

'I think that I didn’t love [being a reality star]. I think some people loved it – they loved the attention.
'It always kind of made me uncomfortable and so I was happy to leave...I have no idea [what I did differently]. I think I was just really lucky, to be honest.'
Since then Lauren has been busy running her two fashion lines, LC Lauren Conrad and Paper Crown, as well as publishing her L.A. Candy and The Fame Game trilogies.

...What are 'Bangs' anyway? I here this term used a lot nowadays by Americans, but what does it mean? At first I thought it was a nick name for hair ties but then heard the word being used without hair accessories in sight. I'm confused, what does it mean? :-) - alimichelle05 , London, United Kingdom, 24/5/2013 11:11 Yes, they are 'bangs'. And if you think that's stupid, why would anyone put a "napkin" on a baby's bottom? Or call the hood of a car a "bonnet"?
