She is facing public disgrace after appearing in court charged with public endangerment for allegedly throwing a pot bong from a window.

But even that may not be as humiliating for Amanda Bynes as being photographed in leg shackles following her arrest over the incident in New York on Thursday night.

The former Nickelodeon favourite was dragged along with her head bowed by a police officer as she was transported from the city's Midtown North Police Precinct to the Manhattan Central Booking facility.

She made sure her messy blonde wig covered her face as she was marched along by the strong arm of the law.

The 27-year-old looked far from the starlet her fans know and love in a pair of grey jogging trousers, pullover and slippers.

But it was far from the end of her journey, as she appeared in court Friday, where she was charged with reckless endangerment.

She is accused of throwing a marijuana bong out of her Manhattan apartment building, and in evidence presented to court it is alleged she told officers it was 'just a vase.'

She was arrested after building officials at her midtown apartment called police to complain she was rolling a joint and smoking cannabis in the lobby.

Amanda was also charged with attempted tampering with evidence and unlawful possession of marijuana, all misdemeanors.

However her attorney Andrew Friedman told the court: 'My client completely denies illegally throwing anything out of her window.'

She also took to Twitter to claim her innocence, saying: ''I only smoke tobacco I don't drink or do drugs. I've never had a bong in my life!

'I need to get another nose job after seeing my mugshot!'

For goodness sake she was just enjoying a joint, lighten up. She wouldn't of been arrested if she wasn't famous.(who is she again..).

I take it she has been having lessons from Lindsay Lohan on how to ruin your life and career. A truly sad waste of talent. A beautiful girl who is headed down a dead end road at the moment.

Well I can't comment on her breasts today as she's wearing that top, but I certainly don't like what she's done with her hair.

This girl needs a Britney style intervention, now! Her family need to do something because the people around her at the moment are enablers in this behaviour!

-buff24seven, Agree! The feet shackles were not necessary but the NYPD just likes to feel "powerful" and important.
