As many as two-fifths of those surveyed said they were already worrying about how they will cope with the costs this year, the Money Advice Service found. A third said they will ramp up their credit card debts to pay for the festivities. More than one million people, 2.44 per cent, plan to take out a payday loan to cover the cost of Christmas.
