Well, he did grow up on the beach.

So really, when Liam Hemsworth stepped out of his Escalade onto a West Hollywood sidewalk in completely bare feet, he was simply going back to his roots.

The 23-year-old Australian actor opted to carry his trainers and walk shoeless into the gym on Saturday, before giving the cameras a sneaky grin.

Having just returned from Cannes, France, West Hollywood probably felt like the most casual place on earth for the studly actor.

Liam was dressed in green and black striped shorts and a black t-shirt that hugged his biceps nicely.

A black cap and sunglasses shielded his face as he snuck out of his car to head in for a workout.

The Hunger Games star showed of his playful side as he then stopped and peeked back around the corner, flashing a sneaky grin.

The surfer boy appeared to be in good spirits, despite ongoing chatter about whether he and his fiancee/former fiancee Miley Cyrus' are on or off.

Clearly, when Liam goes to the gym he really makes the most of it - the results were evident on his muscular legs and toned biceps.

In still photos that recently surfaced from the upcoming movie Paranoia, the results are even more clear.

The hunk is sure to get fans excited for the drama, as the still shows him stripped down, revealing his rock-hard abs for an outdoor pool scene.

In the image, the actor is dripping wet, lounging shirtless in the cool water, merely sporting a pair of black swim trunks.

Liam has also been on the road, promoting his latest flick The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
