They're five of the hardest-working pop stars in the industry.

So it's no surprise that One direction are looking forward to taking a little break as they came to the end of the European leg of their Take Me Home tour in Lisbon on Sunday night.

Rounding off the first section of their mammoth tour on a high, the British boys will now enjoy a few days off to catch up with friends and family before heading to Mexico next week.

Proving just how phenomenally popular they are, the former X Factor stars took to the stage in Europe one last time before they head across the pond.

Clearly on a high despite their tireless schedule, the youngsters put on a stellar show in front of their Portuguese fans, jumping around the stage with their usual boundless energy.

And it seems that they enjoyed the show just as much as their fans did, posting a number of enthusiastic messages on their Twitter accounts.

'Thank you Europe ! I love you allll :),' wrote Liam Payne as soon as the boys stepped off stage at the MEO arena in the capital city.

'Lisbon that show was nuts last night! What a way to finish up our European tour! U guys were soo loud !,' wrote Niall Horan.

'European tour is over :( honestly sad about it, got to see so many places! played amazing shows, had. Great laugh, ate some great food :)' he added.

Despite admitting that he was sad that the European leg was over, Niall also told all his followers how pleased he was to be having a little down time.

'So now! Time off ! Friends and family time! chilling out ! And just spending the time I missed out on with them now! Just friends n family,' he wrote.

But just in case fans were already starting to miss the boys during their week off, their musical director Jonathan Shone uploaded a behind-the-scenes video to keep them satisfied.

It shows just how much fun the lads had while on the road in Europe, including a scene in Rome where Niall jumps up and down.

After their week off, One Direction will jet to Mexico before kicking off the North American leg of their tour which will take them up until August when they head to Australia.

They have to work hard...when you cant sing and cant dance you need to really practice a lot....and then let the Cowell media circus do the rest....pathetic.

this Harry....is he considered to be cute, handsome, good-looking, or attractive? I'm distracted by his nostrils and can't decide what the attraction is....

If they lived in the real world where most people exist, they would know what it was like to need a break. Sadly, those who need it most often have to go without.......
