'We are trying to put great things into the world!' Will Smith's horror as his family are compared to the fame-hungry Kardashians

His youngest son Jaden has been romantically linked to one of their number.

But Will Smith was not at all happy when an interviewer for the New York magazine compared his famous family to that of the fame-hungry Kardashians.

'For our family, the entire structure of our life, our home, our business relationships—the entire purpose is for everyone to be able to create in a way that makes them happy,' he explained to the New York magazine.

And despite Jaden's alleged romance with Kylie Jenner, Smith insisted the family's were intrinsically different.

'Fame is almost an inconsequential by-product of what we’re really trying to accomplish,' explained the Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air star.

'We are trying to put great things into the world, we’re trying to have fun, and we’re trying to become the greatest versions of ourselves in the process of doing things we love.

'So the idea of fame or exploitation or orchestrating the media is sometimes even less than desirable for us.'

The actor was speaking in a joint interview with his 14-year-old son, with whom he co-stars in their new action movie After Earth.

But despite Jaden's success as an actor, and his sister Willow's pop career, Will insited the family didn't seek out fame.

'It may seem like we have pushed our kids into the business, but that is absolutely insane,' he said. 'I would never, ever, push somebody to have their face on a poster that’s going be everywhere in the world.

'He is making a choice from the informed.'

And Will said he liked being able to help Jaden's career.

'I have relationships with some of the biggest filmmakers and actors and producers on Earth. So I can be a huge help.'

And he revealed that Willow had chosen to take a break from her singing career, despite her quick success.

'Willow chose singing and then un-chose it. She said, “Daddy, I want to go to school with my friends during the week, and I want to hang out with them on the weekends.”

'At the peak of “Whip My Hair,” she’s like, “Daddy, I’m done.” I was like, “Wow, wow, wow. No, baby, I got Annie [the upcoming movie remake, co-produced by Jay-Z], you know. It’ll be New York, you’ll be with Beyoncé. You can bring your friends.”

'And she said, “Daddy, I got a better idea. How about I just be 12?” At the end of the day, it has to be their choice.'

Uh-huh whatever Will. Your kid got the job in Karate Kid all on his own and so did your daughter with her whip my hair song. Not. I used to admire this family for how they have stayed together, but the more they open their mouths the less I like them.

You are a bunch of ridiculously overpaid entertainers. People who do great things are people who risk their lives or make sacrifices for teh good of others and do a really tough job for little reward. firefighters, cops, nurses and teachers. They are the ones who really do GREAT things. get over yourself Smith

It's strange but I'm really not interested in seeing Will Smith and his son in another movie. They were great in the Pursuit of Happyness, but... I just don't want to see them together again. Nor am I interested in hearing about how amazingly, stupendously, extraordinarily INCREDIBLE and PERFECT their family is. It's just... too much... and doesn't seem... real or genuine. Or entirely healthy... I don't know exactly what it is... I still like Will as an actor though. Oh yeah, and um... what's a Kardashian?

Ill say this. Do you see the Smiths doing stupid BS for Money? Acting out and acting a fool for money? No! They make a few movies, make a few songs and then they are gone. No scene, no baby mama drama, or drugs or none of the bs. The truth of the matter is how much do you know about what goes on really in either home? If someone made a show or talked about what goes on in your house with your kids how much of it would be true? Dont believe the hype, making movies is no different then going to work. They make a hell of a lot more money true, but all he wants is to guide his kids, his family no different then you would with your own family. Basically put ....MIND YOUR OWN DAMN BUSINESS!!

The difference is the Smiths have talent. The children may be fame hungry but the differnece is they have some talent to back that up and are performing in song and scripted films, not a relaity tv show on basic cable. At the top of the smith family there is father Will, an oscar nominated actor (Ali) with multiple awards for his word on tv and film and song and an amazing gift for what he delivers. He has regulalrly taken his children to africa to show them how things are outside their golden halls. By comparrison the Kardi's 'fame' is based on a sex tape and I doubt any of them could even find Armenia on the map, never mind explain it's issues.

He's great! I'm worried that in this new film they're promoting, it's his son who seems to be the hero, not Will. Will Smith should never be anything other than hero. It'd be like casting Morgan Freeman as a bad guy. It's just not what the people want.
