    DOTA 2

Anyone who plays online multiplayer games is familiar with the problem of the anonymous commons: abusive, whining, foul-mouthed trolls sucking the joy out of every game free of repercussions. Some games issue bans, some games implement a mute button, but few games ever seem to solve the issue. Valve’s Dota 2 team, though, is trying…

Tropical islands are great. You’ve got beautiful scenery, clear skies, relaxing ocean waves, peace, tranquillity, an uncloaking nanosuited man brandishing a giant pulsating stick. Wait, hang on a second… Ah, it’s Crysis 3, taking a holiday from the urban jungles of New York for the newly announced The Lost Island DLC. Damn tourists.

Sorry, what I meant to say was, “Firaxishavepostedthenextintheirseriesof…” Because, blimey, they’re really speeding through these explanations of the expansion’s new features. This time around, we’re treated to a quickfire burst of info on trade routes.

This trailer for The Flock, an upcoming (deep breath) first person asynchronous multiplayer indie horror, plays out in two parts. There’s the first minute and a half, in which you’re struck by a vague appreciation of something that looks atmospherically creepy in a non-specific way. Then there’s the second half, as the developer explains the concept and, oh gods, it suddenly becomes extremely creepy in a very specific way.

Dungeon runners in Guild Wars 2 may soon find it easier to band together with other committed content consumers. Reddit user “that_shaman” has delved into the DAT files of the game’s Last Stand at Southsun update, and found evidence to suggest that a Looking for Group tool could be making its way into the game.

    Nvidia GeForce GTX 770

As sure as day follows night, tick follows tock and more people follow Bieber on Twitter than live in Canada, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 follows the GTX 780. And given the pricey nature of the GTX 780, and the Titanesque surrounds of this new card, that would probably lead you to believe it’s yet another hugely expensive toy.

Well at £330/$399 it is still expensive, but that doesn’t preclude it from also being really rather good value.

Wait, am I allowed to write about something called “Wetware” on a family-friendly website? Oh, right, it’s a hacking game. That makes more sense. In fact, it’s that particular strand of completely unrealistic neon-blue hacking game that transports you to the cheerily ridiculous and tension filled world inhabited by films like the cheesy, but excellent Hackers.

In the last week, listings of Mirror’s Edge 2 have been spotted on various retailer websites and, most recently, as a page on EA’s own Help Center. While promising, it’s far from confirmation that a sequel to 2009′s freerunning adventure is on the way. Instead, think of it as that slow, early build of momentum that could well lead to a glorious leap into existence. That, or it’ll awkwardly stumble, and fall into a chasm of “nope, not going to happen.”

If you’ve been following Wargame: AirLand Battle, the RTS follow-up to Wargame: European Escalation, you’ll be aware of its attempt to imbue the strategy formula with a deep, persistent deck system and a versatile dynamic campaign. But now the game has released, which means its time to throw out the subtelty, crank up the rock, and do a launch trailer.

    Shadow Warrior

The latest free-to-play title to hit Steam’s virtual shelves isn’t a cutesy MMORPG with a cash shop full of glittery hats and staves, nor is it a brutal MOBA with an arsenal of buyable heroes. Nope—surprisingly, it’s the late-90s classic Shadow Warrior! And unless somebody’s gone to the pains of tweaking some 16-year-old code, it’s pretty much guaranteed this isn’t a pay-to-win kind of deal.
