Rape victim speaks out in bid to find man who attacked and robbed her in broad daylight and got away

A 22-year-old who was raped in broad daylight has spoken out about the assault in the hope it will lead to the capture of her attacker.

Alexandra Clarke, from Chicago, was raped last month while she was waiting for a bus at a busy intersection.

She was listening to music on her iPhone around 2pm when a man sat down beside her.

She said: 'He was sitting there for about 30 seconds to a minute. And all of sudden he grabbed my throat, he said, "You are going to take a walk with me".'

She told ABC she was shocked and confused that something like this was happening in the middle of the day.

He then grabbed her throat and threatened to kill her before dragging her into a nearby alley when he sexually assaulted her on a stairwell.

 

He then stole her wallet and ran away.

'I was compliant,' she said. 'I didn't scream, I didn't yell, I didn't try to run, I didn't think of any of that.

'I was mostly in shock that it was not only happening, but it was happening at 2 on a busy street.'

After the attack Alexandra went to a nearby hospital and called her mother who said it was the most horrible thing that ever happened.

The Clarke family and some friends have raised $5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the man.

The 22-year-old thinks that he is a repeat offender and does not want this to happen to anyone else.

'The fact that he confidence to do that middle of day, he has clearly done it before,' she said.
