The winner of the ninth annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest constructed her creation out of glitter glue, glow-in-the-dark glue, a needle and thread, and 16 rolls of Charmin's Ultra-Soft.

Albanian-born Mimoza Haska, a hairdresser from Surfside Beach, South Carolina, took home $2,000 for winning the top spot for her ruffled creation, which featured flowery detailing and included a pointy crown-style headpiece.

In second place was 2011 and 2012 winner Susan Brennan, from Orchard Lake, Michigan, whose floor-length, halter-neck bridal gown was cinched at the waist with a toilet paper belt.

Winning look: Mimoza Haska from Surfside Beach, South Carolina, won this year's annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Contest with her short and ruffly creation. It was made with glitter glue and 16 rolls of Charmin

The event took place at RK Bridal in New York City on Thursday, and was hosted by Charmin and Cheap-Chic-Weddings.com.

The contestants, who were allowed only to use toilet paper, tape, glue and thread, worked painstakingly on their dresses for months.

Ms Haska's was the shortest of the top three gowns, and its impressive ruffles and elaborate detailing - including a strand of lilies sculpted from toilet paper - set it apart from the rest.

Celebrity judge Kate Pankoke, a bridal couture designer who competed in season 11 of Project Runway, was on hand to help select the winner out of more than 1,100 entrants.

'I was particularly impressed with the level of creativity the three finalists brought to their designs,' Miss Pankoke said in a release.

Making evaluations: Project Runway's Season 11 contestant Kate Pankoke (checking out Carol Touchstone's third-place dress) was the celebrity judge during the contest on Thursday

'It was incredible to see how they used Charmin toilet paper to create soft and sturdy gowns that are as beautiful as those made from fine fabrics, and Haska's dress was stunning!'

Cheap-Chic Weddings held the first contest nine years ago, and co-founder Susan Bain says the dresses get more and more impressive every year.

'The quality of talent that presents itself each year continues to amaze us,' she said.

For winning second place, Ms Brennan received a $1,000 check, and third place winner Carol Touchstone from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, won $500 for her many-layered V-neck gown.

For many, many years this has been a traditional 'bridal shower' party game here in the US; Divide into groups and make a wedding dress out of toilet paper. I first saw it at my friend's bridal shower 23 years ago. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in the artice. I would assume that's where the idea for this contest came from.

I am in my mid-40s and I used to do this with my dolls all the time - made some fantastic designs too! But then I used to felt-tip their make-up on too, looked more like Chuckys birde, ha
