A weary traveller! Cindy Crawford arrives for a flight looking less than her usual supermodel self

She's covered countless magazines and been the face of Revlon cosmetics.

But Cindy Crawford can't be expected to look camera-ready 24/7.

The 47-year-old supermodel arrived to LAX on Friday looking ready for several hours of shut-eye on her flight.

Regardless of her weary appearance, the legendary model's good looks still shone through.

Dressed down in a white T-shirt and an olive-coloured army jacket, Cindy was casually chic.

Skinny jeans hugged her slender legs while tan ankle boots carried her throughout the airport.

Adding a dash of colour, the model wrapped a printed scarf around her neck.

But any less-than-perfect day for Cindy is still quite glamorous, a trait she's carried since she was in high school.

The beauty tweeted a newspaper clipping of her very first modelling gig when she was a 16-year-old wannabe growing up in Dekalb, Illinois, in 1982.

The iconic supermodel was clearly in a nostalgic mood as she wistfully captioned the scrapbook snap saying that it was her 'first cover'.

In the vintage black and white advertisement, in the DeKalb Nite Weekly, Cindy can be seen reclining poolside in a skimpy two-piece.

The Vogue model captioned the clipping: 'My very first "cover" during high school in DeKalb, shot in my highschool boyfriend's backyard...'

And quickly followed up with another tweet, writing: 'Believe me when I say I had absolutely no idea where that photo would lead to!'

Prior to becoming one of the world's most recognisable faces Cindy graduated as high school valedictorian of her 1984 class.

She went on to win an academic scholarship to study chemical engineering at Northwestern University, but soon dropped out to model full time in Manhattan with the Elite New York modelling agency.

In a Vimeo interview with Katie Sarro in 2012 Cindy opened up about her first modelling gig: 'My very first job was in a Chicago. I'm from a small town 60 miles west of Chicago called DeKalb, Illinois.'

'I started modeling with an agency there and the first job they got me was for bras for Marshall Fields, which is a department store in Chicago. It was for the newspaper ad.'

Adding: 'When you do lingerie, it's kind of a big deal to decide to do that. I think I was 16 or 17 at the time. It wasn't a Victoria Secret sexy bra; it was a Cross Your Heart bra.'

But the gig proved to be controversial for the then teenager: 'It ended up plastered all over my high school, which was somewhat humiliating.'

Though the future supermodel soon found a way to overcome the negative attention: 'But when you do lingerie you make time and a half. So I was like, "Do you know how much I made? I made $150 to make that picture." So that kind of shut everyone up.'

47? I'm 45 and I'm pretty sure when I was younger and read fashion magazines Crawford was quite a few years older than me. I thought she was mid 20s when I was 18 says Penelope from Australia. If you can remember back that far, when you are at that young age, someone that is just a few years older than you seems ancient. Remember when you were a freshman in high school how you couldn't relate to someone who was a junior or senior?

So now you know why celebrities wear sunglasses all the time - so the papz don't catch them mid-blink, which makes them look 'tired' when they aren't.

I like her but I think it's time to get rid of the mole. It is starting to sag. It might end up on her chin.

So what she's getting old. It happens to us all and then we die.

I never found her pretty or even really attractive. Just girl next door with a great body. She was not high fashion, more Sears catalogue.
