As Southern psychic waitress Sookie Stackhouse on TV show True Blood, she is regularly seen in a pair of hotpants and a tight T-shirt.

But it was a very different looking Anna Paquin who arrived for a talk show appearance on Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday.

The 30-year-old star looked pretty in a simple black blazer, T-shirt and black spotted skirt which she teamed with ballet pumps.

Unlike Sookie's usual ponytail, the star wore her blonde hair in loose waves around her shoulders as she happily signed autographs for fans waiting outside the Hollywood studios.

Later, Anna changed into a more sultry black dress for her appearance on the show, where she discussed the sixth season of the HBO series in which she appears alongside husband Stephen Moyer who plays vampire Bill Compton.

Anna and her co-stars, who include Alexander Skarsgard and Ryan Kwanten, regularly appear in nude scenes on the hit series, which Anna told the talk show host can sometimes be embarrassing for her family and friends.

'I forget to warn them sometimes that I'm going to be naked,' she said. 'Then I hope it's not going to be socially awkward later.'

The actress also discussed being a mother to fraternal twins who were born last September.

'Having twins is kind of like an assembly line,' she laughed. 'Sleep is not a big part of our lives.'

However, she bemoaned increased press attention into her family life.

'In celebrity math, actor plus actor plus baby equals interesting,' she said. 'Even if you're boring.'

I think that whoever did the casting for True Blood deserves a very large pay cheque because so many people will watch it just for Joe and Alexander (including me) but i do like Anna in it a lot actually
