Ready for a blow wave! Brooke Shields dashes to the hair salon with soaking wet hair and emerges a sleek winner

It's not a look that one usually sees on Brooke Shields but she was obviously in a hurry.

The 48-year-old actress had that 'just out of the shower' look as she dashed down the street with dripping wet hair to her local hair salon in New York on Thursday.

Aside from her damp tresses, Brooke was well put-together in a clingy black-and-white-striped skirt and sleeveless black blouse that suggested she had somewhere important to go.

Brooke clutched a green juice and stayed partially hidden behind her tinted shades before disappearing into the salon where styling experts and haircare products awaited.

A short while later, the six-foot-tall star came out looking like a queen with luxuriously shining, straightened hair.

She carried a chic black handbag looped over her shoulder and a black cardigan wrapped around her waist while strolling down the busy city street in peep-toe wedge heels.

The mother-of-two must have left her two daughters, Rowan, 10, and Greer, seven, in the charge of her reliable husband, writer Chris Henchy, so she take care of business quick and easy.

Earlier this month Brooke was her glamorously coiffed self as she hit up the Park Avenue Garage Spring Sale.

The Army Wives star matched her gorgeous tresses with a classy navy-blue dress and delicate jewelry to mingle with supermodel Christie Brinkley and others.

Brooke is also gearing up for the release of a new movie, Hot Flashes, in which she co-stars with Daryl Hannah and Virginia Madsen.

The comedy tells the story of a basketball team made up of middle-aged Texas women, all former high school champs, who challenge the current arrogant high school girls' state champs to a group of games to raise money for breast cancer prevention.

Brooke gets to test out her funny bone as these underappreciated women go to comic extremes to prove themselves on and off the court, eventually becoming darlings of the media.

'I think [the audience] is going to connect on all levels,' Brooke told Entertainment Tonight about the film, which hits U.S. theatres on July 12.

'Women are going to connect; men are going to connect; people that have been touched by breast cancer; people that appreciate sports. I feel like it is across the board.'
