Spring 2013 Concerts

Symp Vibes is proud to present our Spring 2013 End-of-Semester Concerts! The concerts will be held on Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st at 8 pm in Lecraw Auditorium in the College of Business. We’ll be featuring songs by Jason Mraz, Ray Charles, Janelle Monae, the Temper Trap, and many more. Tickets can be bought for $5 in advance online or in the Student Center the week leading up to the concerts, or you can buy tickets for $7 at the door.

Spring 2013 Auditions

If you’re a guy that wants to audition for Symp Vibes, here is all the information you need:

When and where are auditions?
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, January 8th from 7-10 PM. After that, we will have callbacks on Thursday, January 10th from 7-8:30 PM. Auditions will be held in the Student Center Theater and callbacks will be in D.M. Smith 15.

What are the requirements?
Obviously, you have to be male. Other than that, we just expect you to have a strong work ethic and a passion for singing.

What is the audition like?
During the audition, we will take you through some vocal warmups, have you sing some scales, do several tonal memory exercises, and have you sight read a few measures of sheet music. Finally, we ask that you prepare a one minute solo and have it ready by your audition time. It can be any song that you choose, preferably something that is either popular now or was popular in the past, but it’s more important that the song you choose really show off your talent. And, of course, you must sing your solo a cappella.

How will I know if I get a callback?
After everyone has auditioned on Tuesday, we will send out an email around 11 PM letting you know if you have been invited to callbacks or not. If you don’t get a callback, don’t worry–we have auditions every semester.

How do I sign up to audition?
Click the tab at the top of the page that says “AUDITION”. Fill out that form, and when you hit submit, you will be taken to a Google Doc where you can sign up for a time slot.

If you have any questions, just email our Business Manager at pmayo91@gmail.com

SympVibes 2012 Fall Concerts

Your favorite all-male a cappella group is back again. SympVibes has traveled the nation (mainly just to North Carolina and back) to perfect our performance, our voices, and our looks. Now it’s time for you to see the results at our end-of-semester Fall Concert. What could be better than 12 guys singing just for you? 13 guys singing just for you, that’s what, and the 13 of us are proud to bring you some of your favorites by Adele, Ray Charles, and The Temper Trap in addition to many new songs. There may also be a few surprises, but being as they are surprises, we can’t tell you about those yet. So get your tickets today. Or tomorrow. Or any other time before they sell out.

Regular tickets are $5 in advance, and VIP Tickets are $10. You can get your tickets by coming to see us in the Student Center this week.  Tickets at the door are $5.

Thursday’s concert will be held in Howey L1 lecture hall, located in the Howey Physics building.

Sunday’s concert will be held in LeCraw Auditorium, located in the Management building in Tech Square.

We’ll also be selling our newest CD, Seriously, at our table in the Student Center and at the concert for $9 (or $7 if you buy it along with your ticket). If you haven’t listened to it yet, we have one question for you: why not?

Lastly, something that should interest all sorority members! As is SympVibes tradition, we will be having a little sorority competition for this pair of shows. This semester, the sorority with the highest percentage attendance to our concerts will be given the opportunity to select a song to be our next vocal arrangement, and SympVibes will perform your pick (alongside a few other songs) at a private concert next semester. There’s a lot of power on the line with this prize, so come out, win it, and brag about it.
See you all at the shows!

Fall 2012 Auditions

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a member of Georgia Tech’s premier all-male a cappella group?  It’s the start of a new semester, and we’re looking for talented men who want to perform with us!  We want guys who like to sing, but love to work.  We hope you’re here looking for info on auditions, so here it is:

Auditions:

  • Tuesday, August 28th.  Slots are available from 7 to 10 PM.  Held in Student Center Room 301.
  • Wednesday, August 29th.  Slots are available from 7 to 10 PM.  Held in D.M. Smith Room 015.

You can sign up for an audition slot between 7 and 10 on either of these days (you only need to come one day).  On Wednesday night, we will email out our decision for callbacks, and if we want to hear ya again:

Callbacks:

  • Thursday, August 30th.  7 PM.  Held in D.M. Smith Room 015.

The audition itself is pretty laid back. We’ll do a little warm-up, pitch matching, and sight reading (if you don’t know what these are, don’t stress! We’ll walk you through it) followed by a solo you have prepared for us. The solo will be sung a cappella (duh) and should be something along the lines of the popular music genre (i.e. don’t sing something from a musical or that you learned with your classical voice teacher or choir). That’s it! We are fun lovin’ guys so don’t worry too much, we’ll make you feel comfortable (even though that sentence probably makes you uncomfortable).

So, here are the links!  Please fill out both forms (one reserves your time slot, one gives us a little background of you).  See you next week!

SympVibes, Seriously.

Hey everyone. We have a new album. Seriously. That’s what it’s called. And we can’t wait to share it with you. But you have to wait for the shows. Which will take place April 21st and 22nd. Pretty soon here you’ll be able to buy tickets on the store here at the website, but for now, just mark your calendar for those dates. We’ll see you there at 7pm. Seriously.

In addition, stay tuned because we will probably be uploading some soundbytes here to get you all excited for the album. We are already all excited for the album and we want you to be there too.

Front cover. Get pumped.

Singers Wanted!

Do you sing? Are you a cool dude? We want you to join the group! We’re looking for a couple of new guys to join the group this semester. All we need from you is a little bit of warmup, some sight reading, and some tonal memory. Finally, and most importantly, prepare to sing a solo for us of a popular song, current or past. If this sounds like something you’d like to do, click on over to http://www.acaspot.com/audition to sign up for a slot. See you at auditions!

An Intimate Evening with SympVibes

Join us, your favorite singing men, for a night you will never forget (at least until our next show). We have two shows on two nights, for double the enjoyment. Come Saturday (D.M. Smith), or Sunday (Old Architecture), or BOTH! Both shows are at 7:00 pm. Tickets are limited, so get them fast (like now) over at our store page or by finding us in the student center this week. Don’t miss out!

AUDITIONS 2K11, YO

It’s that time again, your chance to become a part of SympVibes! We are looking for a few good men to join the ranks and sing with us. We want guys who like to sing, but love to work. We hope you’re here looking for info on auditions, so here it is:

Auditions will be held on August 30th and 31st. Callbacks will be held Friday, September 2nd (early enough so as to not interfere with your Friday night plans of course).

The audition itself is pretty laid back. We’ll do a little warm-up, pitch matching, and sight reading (if you don’t know what these are, don’t stress! We’ll walk you through it) followed by a solo you have prepared for us. The solo will be sung a cappella (duh) and should be something along the lines of the popular music genre (i.e. not something from a musical or that you learned with your classical voice teacher). That’s it! We are fun lovin’ guys so don’t worry too much, we’ll make you feel comfortable (even though that sentence probably makes you uncomfortable).

So how do you sign up? Click on this little linky thing here and do what it tells you to: http://www.acaspot.com/audition?g=1
