Skate Canada thrilled with London’s hosting of the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships

LONDON, ONT: Over the past week the Budweiser Gardens in London, Ontario hosted the 2013 ISU World Figure Skating Championships and saw over 62,000 people through the doors from March 11-17.The saleable capacity was 6,650 and the building experienced sell-outs on both Saturday sessions, as well as near sell-outs on Thursday, Friday and the closing gala exhibition on Sunday.

“We have had such a successful week here in London,’ said Benoît Lavoie, Skate Canada President. “The venue and city greeted the world with open arms and all of our international guests certainly noticed the warm Canadian welcome. We were able to create a positive competitive environment that allowed us to see numerous season’s bests, personal bests and even world records. ”

“The Budweiser Gardens provided an intimate skating setting that showcased beautiful skating and an energetic crowd that was noticed by everyone from skaters to the judges. The tickets sales from the event also met our expectations in both atmosphere and from a financial standpoint,” finished Lavoie.

In addition to the ticketed events, over 22,500 people visited the Light Up London fan festival at the Canadian Tire Family Zone and Skate Canada House.
