From private jet to luxury super yacht! Sir Michael Caine and his wife Shakira begin their romantic break in style

He’s been busy promoting his two new films around the world so no doubt Michael Caine has been looking forward to a break with his beautiful wife Shakira.

The couple were spotted touching down in Calvi, Corsica by private plane on Wednesday before boarding a luxury super yacht which will take them on a tour of the Mediterranean island’s gorgeous scenery.

Looking a little tired, Sir Michael wheeled his suitcase to the yacht’s mooring whilst his wife of 40 years followed close behind.

The 80-year-old actor was sporting warm clothes despite the sunshine, donning a padded sleeveless jacket, jeans and a smart shirt.

Shakira, 66, meanwhile was looking chic in her loose white top and wide brimmed hat, with a green cardigan draped around her shoulders.

Sir Michael looked like he was relishing his down time after a hectic few months working on and promoting his latest movie Now You See Me, which hits UK cinemas this week.

Leaving his usual clean-shaven look behind, the actor has let his white beard grown out for his romantic break on the French island.

The trip for two follows another honour for the decorated actor after Sir Michael was handed the lifetime achievement honour at the Munich International Film Festival on Monday.

The Dark Knight star was presented with the CineMerit Award by director Sherry Horman, with the festival paying tribute to the actor’s 60 year career with retrospective screenings of his most beloved films.

On receiving his award, the Oscar-winner joked about his lengthy career, quipping ‘I think I've been in 150 films, with substantial parts in 90 I can remember.’

As well as the illusionist drama Now You See Me, which co-stars Caine’s Dark Knight buddy Morgan Freeman, Sir Michael will next be seen in Sandra Nettlebeck's project Mr. Morgan’s Last Love.

The romantic drama sees the actor team up with The Fall star Gillian Anderson and French beauty Clemence Posey.

An adaptation of Francoise Dorner's French novel La Douceur Assassine, the film centres around a widowed professor (Caine) who develops a relationship with a younger French woman (Poésy) whilst living in Paris.
