This is a follow up to the recent post Reports: Fukushima women losing their hair -- Resemblance to chemotherapy? (PHOTOS)

In 1950 the U.S. Armed Forces Special Weapons Project released a film about nuclear radiation:

Video 1

Various kinds of cells which make up the parts of the body differ in their vulnerability to radiation:

  • Most sensitive are lymph cells such as those found in the tonsils
  • Next is bone marrow, which manufacturers red and white blood cells
  • Then the sex cells
  • Followed by [tendons??] and cartilage in the nose, muscles
  • Nerves the toughest of all

In general, cells which reproduce rapidly and whose efficient functioning depends on that ability are most affected.

Radiation halts their reproduction, which is a simple process of one cell dividing into two.

Video 2

The manifestations of radiation in the body are many.

They range from slight to severe:

  • Loss of hair
  • Nausea
  • Bleeding
  • Inability for the body to resist other ailments to make it’s own repairs

These are some of them, and they may be climaxed by the ultimate symptom, death itself.

Downwinder Day – 2011 USA – from Andrew Kishner
    Dear Friend of Idealist.ws,

“Sixty years ago today, the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission conducted its
first ‘experimental nuclear detonation’ at the Las Vegas Bombing and
Gunnery Range. The date was January 27, 1951. The time was 5:45 am.
The bomb test was dubbed ‘Able.’

No one but those with military clearance knew about the test. No one
but those with military clearance knew about the radioactive clouds
that floated above the continental United States. No one was warned
about the dangers of nuclear radiation that would permeate the air and
fall on crops, homes and cisterns.

Able was the first air-dropped nuclear bomb on U.S. soil and, as with
airbursts like those that occurred over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the
greatest ‘fallout’ occurred where there was the greatest
precipitation. Nearly 36 hours after detonation, ‘nuclear clouds’
encountered a snowstorm in Rochester, New York, and began increasing
radiation levels. Kodak’s Geiger Counters recorded readings 25 times
background radiation levels. Determined to get to the bottom of what
was causing the radiation spike, which would have very real threats to
the company’s film supplies, Kodak officials filed a complaint with a
Washington lobby group that cabled the AEC with the following message:

“Tests snowfall Rochester Monday by Eastman Kodak Company give 10,000
    counts per minute……..”"

    CERRIE Majority Report says
    Dose is meaningless

“….. There are important concerns with respect to the heterogeneity of dose delivery within tissues and cells from short-range charged particle emissions, the extent to which current models adequately represent such interactions with biological targets, and the specification of target cells at risk. Indeed, the actual concepts of absorbed dose become questionable, and sometimes meaningless, when considering interactions at the cellular and molecular levels.
(CERRIE Majority Report Chapter 2.1 paragraph 11).

In other words, where hot or warm particles or Plutonium or Uranium are located in body tissue
or where sequentially decaying radionuclides like Strontium 90 are organically bound (e.g. to DNA) “dose” means nothing.
This is massively significant. Official radiation risk agencies universally quantify risk in terms of dose. If it means nothing the agencies know nothing and can give no valid advice.

Their public reassurances fall to the ground. They can no longer compare nuclear industry discharges with the 2 millisieverts we get every year from natural radiation, or the cosmic rays you’d receive flying to Tenerife for a holiday…”

What great data arclight!! You are so on this today!

I think alot about this angle…about my near constant nausea as a child in the early sixties…only after drinking water or milk usually…just accepted it at the time, mom said I threw up at the drop of a hat! (she had no idea, even with what the govt did talk about, wasnt the truth)

Little did I know that I could have been dying when by age 14 I was having fainting spells and diagnosed “anemic”

It was luck, timing of decay in relation to when I was born, and God’s love that kept me safe and healthier in these days

Just finished a second reading of “The Plutonium Files” by Eileen Wellsome, a must read on this subject.

The US did alot of body snatching during the 50s and testing for strontium 90 and plutonium in bone and teeth cause they couldn’t do these COVERT medical experiments and ever be able to follow their victims through decades of their lives…kids and adults, other stuff too. This book really covers alot of the legal/political/media dealings and the births of AEC/NRC and DOE, right through to when Hazel O’Leary busted out with her brief, heroic transparency and declassification in the mid 90s.

Yes, it’s all about the lawsuits. Our problem is we let our governments get too big and powerful. Because they have no “souls”, they have no conscience. So, when you wield power WITHOUT conscience, it’s like being a dysfunctional teenage zombie.

Such issues, he argues, can be seen in the same category as perjury in criminal court cases for which serious sanctions exist.

The essay has been published in Iraq-Silent Death edited by Chris Scherrer (University Sains Malaysia 2011) and is also to be found,

presented on the website of the

The matter is one of democracy and goes to the core of expert evidence on Policy to governments. It is argued that scientists (like those who talk down the Fukushima catastrophe) or those like Prof

Science Essential in Verifying Peaceful Use of Nuclear Material

“…..The successful completion of the extension of clean laboratory space for the Environmental Sample Laboratory (ESL), on time and within budget, represented another significant project milestone. Recently acquired mass spectrometry equipment of unparalleled precision is now operating within this newly acquired space. The ESL enables IAEA scientists to detect and measure minute particles of uranium found in the swipe samples collected by IAEA inspectors and to identify the isotopic composition of particles weighing as little as the DNA in one human cell. This capability, which IAEA scientists may extend in the future to the analysis of plutonium, constitutes a powerful tool for confirming the absence of undeclared materials and activities in States under safeguards.

Together, the NML and ESL comprise the IAEA Safeguards Analytical Laboratories. According to Director General Amano:

“The role played by the IAEA’s Analytical Laboratories in safeguarding nuclear material around the world is vital in upholding the integrity of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.”

At the 16 December briefing, representatives of Member States and the IAEA Secretariat conferred on the Agency’s project plan and identified milestones on the way to its completion by the end of 2014.

For this ambitious goal to be achieved, however, Member States will need to continue their generous financial support.”

  • Very Interesting Indeed!! My father (a former Commander in the Navy and Fighter Pilot) was employed by the DOE. He worked as a nuclear device engineer working for Lawerence Livermore Labratory for more than 20 years. During his time with the Lab he traveled a lot and spent a great deal of time at the Nevada Test Site, The Los Alamos Test Site and the facility in Oakridge, Tenessee.

He has been retired for some time now, but a couple of years back he was contacted by a government lawer about a settlement the DOE was making to former emplooyees. They were apparently paying out settlement amounts based on a variety of medical conditions which may have developed as a result of their on-the-job exposure. My father wasn’t given much more info than that and, of course, he didn’t ask.

In order to determine his eligibility for this settlement he needed to provide ALL of his medical records to date, documentation of his current state of health, and provide a list of all his medical conditions. He was also asked to provide all his specific dates of travel to and from all of the various site locations.

Well, apparently somehow his severe anemia coupled with his dates of travel qualified him for a pretty decent settlement amount. And to be honest, I never really gave the whole thing much thought before I discovered this site… but it now kind of all making sense to me.
