How is your flight with Harbour Air and Westcoast Air carbon neutral?
All flight services include a carbon offset that is used to mitigate the environmental impact of the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG's) associated with the flight. Carbon offsets are provided by British Columbia-based Offsetters.
What makes Offsetters' carbon offsets different from those of other providers?
Offsetters is the pre-eminent provider of offsets in Canada. All offset funds are third-party verified and invested in renewable energy efficiency projects that would not have taken place without funding from individuals and companies like Harbour Air and Westcoast Air. Every Offsetters project is validated and verified to be real, additional, verifiable and socially beneficial.

Offset purchases truly make a difference in BC and around the world, targeting:
• Fuel Switching and Energy Efficiency in Greenhouses
Offsetters is working with numerous greenhouse operators across BC to install biomass boilers and energy trapping curtains to reduce their reliance on natural gas. These installations aren’t common practice, and now they will significantly reduce GHG emissions and become a model for energy innovation and a switch to a lower carbon future. A portion of our flight's offset contributions fund Sunselect Greenhouse located in Aldergrove BC.
• Ground-Source Heat Pump (GSHP) Installations
Offsets help pay for the cost of installing ground-source heat pumps at residential and community-based facilities. GSHPs use the renewable heat that is stored below the earth’s surface and convert this heat into usable energy, preventing CO2e emissions. In addition to the climate benefit, the GSHP system cuts operating expenses and exposure to rising energy prices for these important community organizations.

• Nanaimo Landfill Gas Capture and Flare
Carbon offset funds enabled the Regional District of Nanaimo to reduce emissions of methane from its landfill by capturing and flaring the landfill gas that is normally produced. Nanaimo Landfill Project Details

We can proudly say that we offer the most climate-friendly way for one passenger to travel between downtown Vancouver and Victoria (when compared to Twin Engine seaplane, car and single passenger on the ferry or Helijet) and we are committed to further reducing climate impacts and purchasing offsets for what we cannot eliminate.

Harbour Air and Westcoast Air are the only airline in North America which currently purchases carbon offets to mitigate all corporate emissions. This includes all aspects of our daily operations including:
