Thanks!!! Russian keyboard is now available!!!

Vishwasvishwaskrishna Tuesday, March 16, 2010 9:08:55 AM

I have to eat my words after using it for about an hour. Though, interface is good, ve browser hangs up everytime i try to enable opera link. Tabbed browsing also hangs the browser. Response time is very slow. Fullscreen doesn't work like opera mobile 10. Trying to replace it with OM 4.2

Sami Serolaserola Tuesday, March 16, 2010 9:11:15 AM

@ Vishwas - Please use bug report wizard smile Or report the problems (mentioning the phone model) at Opera Mini forum.

micfey Tuesday, March 16, 2010 9:17:00 AM

Bookmarks in folders don't get synchronized - so pretty useless link. The folders don't even show up. This happens for me with om5 native win mobile, opera mobile, and om5 java.

By the way, is it too difficult to name Opera Mini "Opera Mini 5" for example? Why do we have to do it by ourselves? I forgot the fact and now my OM 4.2 got killed.

Opera Mini Bug Report is not working, too. "An error occurred while processing your bug report" while typing with Opera 10.5.

What happened to Opera? Everything seems to get rushed out of the door.

Thank you very much.

That's a terribly geeky comments. Normal people shouldn't have to worry about version numbers.

It's anything but rushed. Longest beta period in Opera Mini's history. Just because the icon isn't called what you want it to be called, and Opera Link isn't working the way you want it to work doesn't mean it was rushed.

OK, thanks for heads up smile I'll pass it to someone I know.

What is geeky with the fact, that i wanted to keep my mini 4.2? Mini 5 overwrites it, because every Mini installs with the name "Opera Mini" instead of a dedicated name scheme. That's simply unnecessary.

You mean, an integral part of OM, like link, isn't that much important? For me it's a showstopper - would you like to surf without any bookmarks? Certainly not.

ZandmanNicoZandberg Tuesday, March 16, 2010 11:14:57 AM

where are my rss feeds? was the main reason i used opera mini. rest is just as beta

Byakkun Tuesday, March 16, 2010 11:20:05 AM

Bug: Can't input text in the location bar with the alphanumeric keyboard on my Nokia 7310 Supernova. Copy and paste works but the location bar textbar is not enlarged like it used to be in beta 1 and 2. Did not have this problems with the betas. Testing other functionality is a pain since i can't even input addresses. You should have tagged this release RC at least.

There's 'Feeds' on bookmarks. Feeds are unfortunately not stored between version updates. You have to start from scratch. I recommend creating backup for your feeds by saving them like any ordinary bookmark.

The bug report wizard should work again now. Thanks for letting us know! up

Strange. In my OM5, there is Google on the top and I can edit the search engines as I like. I downloaded by PC and tranferred the jar file to my phone, though.

Found the possible reason. Google is the default right after installation. This is changed to Amazon when Opera Link synchronized. I guess the problem is previously stored searches at Opera Link, which mess up the order of the saved searches.

EDIT: Possible workaround is the following...
1) Reinstall OM5.
2) Do not synchronize Opera Link yet!
3) Edit searches on drop down list. Notice you can remove Amazon and other searches you don't want. Do that
4) Now synchronize Opera Link and find out what happens.

Now I can be free from 4.2.

Field MPOOMAfild5x Tuesday, March 16, 2010 2:01:33 PM

Wait a sec. I could not save pages nor access those which I have already saved

Glootech Tuesday, March 16, 2010 2:19:42 PM

Address bar is not working in Nokia 6300. Can't test much stuff since I can't go to any address (other than the speed dial or bookmarks). Seems like a rushed release sad

hitmark Tuesday, March 16, 2010 3:36:49 PM

one way to keep the rss feeds, is to tell the phone to keep existing data when overwriting 4.2 with 5. At least that seems to have worked with my SE phone.

btw, while i love the new tabs system and all, i really miss the ability to have the page up/down on the left right dpad. I would really love to see a way to toggle between mouse mode and "read" mode.

oh, and why can we not put the rss feeds "bookmark" into one of the hotspots? heck, from what i can tell *0 is not set for anything, yet it no longer goes directly to the rss feeds like it did in previous versions of opera mini. End result is that one now have to hit #5, then select the feeds before one can actually see if there have been anything new.

Is the Windows Mobile (touchscreen) version posted an updated cab? the start menu icon still says "Opera Mini 5 beta" and I don't see any real changes.

Caroloperainchicago Tuesday, March 16, 2010 7:25:47 PM

will download now yes

michael collazoleglace Tuesday, March 16, 2010 8:02:17 PM

2 out of 3 isn't bad. I wanted socket support, faster scrolling, and zoom capability. I am only missing zoom capability.

This is for a BB touch device (Storm 2)

I still like it a lot. But please do not five up in adding true zoom capability.

jacoljcl Tuesday, March 16, 2010 9:03:05 PM

ok but what about a Native version of Opera Mini 5 For Windows Mobile devices? Any chance to get a nice FINAL version of this?
