'Lamar doesn't have a temper': Kris Jenner defends her son-in-law Odom's outburst on a paparazzo insisting 'he's the greatest guy in the world'

Lamar Odom has remained mum about lashing out against a paparazzo after the photographer asked him about persistent rumours he's been cheating on wife Khloe Kardashian.

But the basketball player's trusty mother-in-law ran to his defense on Monday.

'He's the greatest guy in the world,' said Kris Jenner, Khloe's mother and queen bee of the Kardashian franchise.

'Lamar doesn't have a temper,' the 57-year-old matriarch said in a interview on the Scott & Todd WPLJ morning radio show in New York City.

When Jenner - who is publicising yet another new production she has her hand in, the summer talk show, Kris - was initially asked about her son-in-law's public meltdown Wednesday, she initially feigned ignorance.

The radio hosts began the segment saying to Kris, 'It was hysterical to see your son in law Lamar Odom have that little melt down with the paparazzi.'

The quick-on-her feet publicity hound initially gave a lawyer's answer: 'I didn’t see that,' she said.

But when pressed why the 6'10'' athlete would react so aggressively to being asked if rumours were true he was cheating on Khloe, Jenner leaped to his defense.

The drama with Lamar unfolded after Star magazine reported that the NBA player had been carrying on a year-long affair with Jennifer Richardson, a 29-year-old brunette he first met at the Stadium Club strip club in Washington, D.C.

It was when 33-year-old Odom was asked by photographers in Los Angeles on Wednesday about the affair that he lost his cool and starting grabbing one photographer's equipment and throwing it in the middle of the street.

Kris said that there was a reason behind Lamar’s uncharacteristic behavior.

'When somebody that doesn’t have a temper gets really upset about something there’s a back story,' she said.

'I don’t judge anybody else’s actions until I really hear it from the horse’s mouth and I know what’s going on I don’t like to judge other people and be cruel like that.'

Khloe also jumped to her husband's defense on Twitter.

She slammed the pap, and tweeted 'shout out to my hubby' for posing with a fan. She also responded to one fan commenting on the situation by tweeting, 'hehehe, I just love my hubby.'

The towering 6ft 10 basketball player lost his temper as he walked up to a photographer's car and threw all of his equipment out onto the road, while the stunned sightseers looked on.

It came after the photographer repeatedly asked him about claims he cheated on Khloe.

He initially remained calm despite his irritation, saying: 'I would never cheat on my wife, that's why I wear my wedding ring.'

But after persistent questioning, he asked the photographer for his name and then said: 'I'm gonna step out the car and I'm gonna talk to you.'

Later, when the photographer pleaded for his equipment back, he replied: 'Shut up.'

Photographs show the reality star rifling through the back of a car belonging to one of the photographers and furiously throwing his camera and equipment into the middle of the street.

Lamar then walked over to another photographer's car holding what looked like a tripod while the cameraman stood by, allegedly smashing the car.

He then proceeded to pick up the equipment from the middle of the street and put it in his own car, while carrying the metal rod.

Witnesses claimed Odom snapped after demanding to speak 'man to man' with the paparazzo who Khloe later tweeted had allegedly 'violated their private property' after sneaking into their gated area.

She also claimed the photographer was same pap involved 'in a hit and run' with brother Rob.

When they continued to take his photo, it is claimed, Odom turned on them.

A group of people in a celebrity tour bus happened to be driving past, and the delighted tourists stopped to watch and film the commotion.

Oddly a fan jumped out of her car after the incident to have her picture taken with the star - and taking a break from his rage he politely obliged.

Lamar's angry behaviour is especially bizarre considering the fact he and his wife and her family are known for actively courting the press.
