Amber Heard accompanies Johnny Depp and his children as he arrives in Japan for promotional work

He recently revealed that his children Lily-Rose, 14, and 11-year-old Jack had been ‘incredibly understanding’ about his split from their mother Vanessa Paradis.

And judging by images of Johnny Depp arriving in Japan with them on Tuesday they really have taken the change well as they were seen looking comfortable and relaxed around his new squeeze Amber Heard.

In fact it seems the 27-year-old actress has grown close to his children as she was seen putting a protective arm around Jack as they were swarmed by eager fans.

Dressed in a loose-fitting white dress the pretty actress looked like a cool young mum as she slotted into the role for the trip.

With her hair tied off her face in long ponytail, she showed off her attractive facial features and completed her look with a pair of tan rim shades.

Jack meanwhile looked just as cool wearing a pair of large reflective shades, which were framed by his brown fringe.

The 11-year-old, who was always going to be stylish considering his parents, wore a white T-shirt, blue chinos and carried a rucksack on his back.

Heading off the bus Johnny went ahead of the gang showcasing his usually quirky style wearing a pair of blue jeans with a waistcoat and tan cowboy-style hat.

Howdy: Johnny wore his usual style of clothing including a hat and waistcoat, with a number of necklaces

Just behind came his 14-year-old daughter Lily-Rose, who looked the spitting image of her mother Vanessa.

Vanessa, 40 and Johnny ended their 14 year relationship in 2012 and the actor opened up about how his children have adapted for the first time at the beginning of this month.

Speaking on CBS TV show This Morning, Johnny said: 'When you have children, there is no room for lies, no room for anything but the truth. Anything other than that is a bad example, I believe.

'We were just very truthful with them and they were just incredibly understanding, incredibly accepting. I was extremely proud of them, the way they dealt with it.'

Johnny has arrived in Japan to promote his latest film The Lone Ranger, which unfortunately bombed in the US box office when it was released last week - with the Hollywood Reporter estimating that it's set to lose $150 million for Disney.

The 50-year-old was no doubt delighted to have his girlfriend on hand to support him as he tries to drum up support for the film - that is out in Japan from Friday- in which Johnny plays Native American warrior Tonto.

Amber has been a rock for Johnny throughout the promo tour and even flew into Moscow to join him on the Russian leg.

Amber and Johnny met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2010, but were only romantically linked last year in the wake of the actor's split from Vanessa.

The couple have been reluctant to talk about their relationship and in a recent interview with Bullet magazine Amber refused to answer questions about the private island Depp reportedly bought her, saying: 'The island ... is my private life.'

I still find it weird seeing him with someone other than Vanessa. I really thought they were one of the couples that would last. Amber looks more like his daughter's friend than his partner.

He lost his sense of quirky style that worked - I suppose since he left Vanessa get away she took her style with her. His nannie does look , ah, comfortable though. I thought he was said to have brought his g/f along? why wasn't she photographed also? Lilly Rose is a future knock out~! What fabulous bone structure and features. Beauty in the making.
