Fox has announced that, in the wake of the death of Cory Monteith, the first episode of season five has been delayed to September 26, with production beginning in August rather than July as was originally planned.
Monteith, who starred in the show from the beginning as Finn Hudson, was found dead last weekend in a Vancouver hotel room from a mixed drug toxicity, having sought treatment for addiction earlier this year.
Several of Monteith's co-stars have paid tribute to him this week, including Jane Lynch, Matthew Morrison, Naya Rivera, Dianna Agron and Darren Criss.
Lea Michele, who was in a relationship with Monteith at the time of his death, released a statement requesting privacy as she grieves with the Monteith family.
