9mm MP5
Sub-Machine Gun
The MP5 is a delay blowback-operated, closed-bolt firing, automatic submachine gun. It is equipped either with a standard trigger mechanism offering semi-automatic and fully automatic fire or with a special trigger mechanism offering, in addition to these two modes of fire, a 3-shot burst control. It is available in the following versions: The MP5 A2 with a fixed stock and the MP5 A3 with a retractable stock. The MP5 SD2 and the MP5 SD3 are silenced versions corresponding to the MP5 A2 and MP5 A3, respectively. The SD silenced sub-machine gun can also be supplied with a receiver end cap and no stock. This is the MP5 SD1 version. The roller-delayed blowback action, the recoil-buffer unit as well as the weapon’s straight line construction contribute to accuracy with extremely low felt recoil and minimum muzzle climb, especially in fully automatic fire. Furthermore, the MP5 fires from a closed-bolt position and this makes it more accurate that the conventional sub-machine gun. The barrel and all metal components are made of special steel while the handguard, grip and fixed stock are made of high-strength plastic. The weapon is easily field-stripped and completely disassembled into its components without tools. Short overall length, lightness, simplicity of operation and maintenance, easy training and high hitting capability make this weapon ideally suitable for military forces (especially paratroopers, helicopter crews, special forces, unit commanders, vehicle and heavy weapons crews) as well as police forces and other law-enforcement agencies. The sighting system includes a rotary-type rearsight which is adjustable for windage and elevation. A telescopic or night sight may easily be fitted. The MP5 is a highly accurate, reliable and exceptionally durable weapon even under extreme service conditions. It is supplied with a carrying sling and a complete field-service kit.
