'Date night!' Miley Cyrus' parents Tish and Billy Ray cancel divorce for a second time after seeking couples therapy

It seems Miley Cyrus is not the only member of the family to be giving her relationship another go.

The pop star's parents have cancelled their divorce for a second time after attending couple's therapy.

The news emerged when Tish Cyrus posted a photo of her and Billy Ray on a romantic date on Instagram.

The picture showed the two smiling happily into the camera with their arms wrapped around one another. To avoid any misinterpretation the blonde mother-of-five explained 'Date night'.

It is the second time the pair have reunited after filing for divorce.

A friend told E! that the couple belatedly decided their 22 year marriage was worth saving.

'I spoke to Tish and she told me they both woke up and realized they love each other and decided they want to stay together,' Ken Baker explained.

'They recently went into Couples Therapy... and it's brought them closer together and really opened up their communication in amazing ways.

'They both realized they didn't want to be another statistic and want to make it work.'

Baker, a longtime friend of the family, added that the reunion had surprised the couple.

'They went into the therapy with the goal of divorcing in a way that was healthy for the children, but ended up coming out of it with the realization that they in fact want to stay together.

'Tish sounds happy and energized about having this fresh start.'

Billy Ray, 51, and Tish's reunion comes after a dramatic few months in which she filed divorce papers citing 'irreconcilable differences'. 

It's a dramatic turn around for the couple who split late last month.

At the time, Miley weighed in on the drama by issuing her father an ultimatum on Twitter demanding he 'tell the truth.'

The We Can't Stop singer sent him an angry tweet threatening him with an online revelation and complained she had not been able to contact by phone

She tweeted: '@billyraycyrus since you won't reply to my texts I'm giving you an hour to tell the truth or ill tell it for you.'

Miley also attached an image of herself with an unknown woman with the tweet, but she deleted the post just minutes later.

Four minutes after the explosive tweet had been erased, Miley wrote: 'Wtf? My twitter was just actin all types of cray!'  It's the second time the pair have made divorce threats. 

Billy Ray first filed for divorce in 2010 but he and his wife put aside their differences as they reunited a year later. 

In June it was Tish's turn and she sought full physical and legal custody of the couple's only minor daughter, Noah, 13.

They also have Braison, 18, together, while Billy Ray adopted Tish's children Trace, 25, and Brandi, 23, from a previous relationship.

The actor has another son called Cody, 20, from a relationship with Kristin Luckey.  Meanwhile, Miley's own relationship appears to going strong again - she was pictured last week on a romantic break with her fiance Liam in Canada.

While I wish their marriage the best, this constant public make-up, break-up act is highly immature. Their daughter's relationship seems more steady and solid than theirs and that's saying something.

Tish is simply a groupie who got pregnant with Billy Ray's child while he was married and having a child with another woman. All her children have different father and her affairs with rockstars are well known. Classy lady. It's good that they are working things out for the sake of their family, but this constant back and forth and seeing their parents' relationship in the media can't be easy on their children. They really need to make a decision once and for all and not announce splits or divorces until they are absolutely sure!
