Troubled performer Chris Brown, 24, has pled not guilty to a charge of hit-and-run in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The new charge has since led to a probation violation in his infamous Rihanna assault case.

The singer now faces having a new mug shot taken as he wasn't actually arrested on the day of his  latest incident.

According to TMZ, Brown will appear in court on August 15 for the hit-and-run case.

He will also appear in the same court during same month for a separate probation violation hearing.

The hit and run charges stem from an incident in which Chris allegedly rear-ended another driver but at the time reportedly refused to give her his driver's license or pass over insurance details.

Brown's Range Rover reportedly inflicted 'medium damage' on a Mercedes in Toluca Lake back in May.

Brown, who didn't try and flee the scene, had more to lose than most as he was still on probation for his violent assault on his now ex-girlfriend Rihanna back in 2009.

As well as being charged with hit and run, he was also charged with driving without a license and failing to prove he was insured.

Both of those two charges have since been dismissed.

If Brown is found in violation of his parole he could be sentenced to up to four years in prison.

After the May car crash, Chris took to his his Twitter account, calling the incident 'ridiculous' and denying that he gave the other driver false details.

'It's not a hit and run if u get out the car, exchange information (who has NO DAMAGE to either cars). This is really ridiculous,' he wrote.

'I have a valid drivers license and I gave the woman the right info. She saw cameras and wanted to make a scene.'

The singer then accused the woman of trying to make money out of the incident.

'She contacted the cops thinking of a payday from Chris Brown when I followed the proper procedures,' he wrote.

'My lawyers will be contacting you. I will not stand for this bullying and yellow journalism!'

At the time he also updated his avatar on the social networking site, changing it to a picture of the Mercedes in question in an effort to prove that there was no damage done to the other car.

I doubt he gave false information, he is Chris Brown he can hardly run away from that. Whether its for good or bad he whole world knows him, unless you've been living under a rock for the past few years. She seems like shes trying to milk it.

I don't understand how he can be charged with this when there are pictures of them exchanging information and taking pictures of the car. I guess it's because he's Chris Brown, that's not fair.

I don't know why they made a case out of this since he took pictures of him clearly stopping after the accident and the of other woman's vehicle. Making a big deal of nothing.

it was NOT a hit and run firstly no damage whatsoever done to that car second He got out and they were clearly speaking as Paparrazi got that on video & i dont believe he would be that stupid to refuse to give Info when he was well aware he was being watched by people who hate him - this woman lies saying she was scared he patted her on the back& he did not flinch & she said she had no ideas who he was right ok!

I reckon he would be seriously boring to be around. Anyway, I know people can change etc. However Chris has shown many signs that he has not changed with his arrogant cussing of people he doesn't like and his aggressive ways. Not a fan.
