Working Groups

The activities of the Council are supported by three Working Groups – Access and Regulation; Infrastructure and Planning and Intermodal.

The Working Groups were initially tasked with developing a set of recommendations to give greater effect to the outcomes and focus areas of the Integrated Freight Strategy for Queensland (IFSQ).  These recommendations remained in draft when the state government changed in March 2012.

In order to capitalise on the value of the recommendations proposed by the Working Groups, the QTLC has determined that they will be incorporated into a broader report aimed at recommending strategic and operational actions to improve the development and sustainability of efficient and productive supply chains in Queensland.

The Working Groups will continue to convene industry representatives according to issues as required.

Access and Regulation (Chair – Mark Johnston) will facilitate improved access to the freight network for High Productivity Vehicles and PBS approved vehicles, including ‘last mile’ issues, to increase efficiencies by facilitating regulatory consistencies and harmonization across jurisdictions.

Infrastructure and Planning (Chair – Keith Hampson) will examine the freight impacts of current and proposed infrastructure and ensure that future infrastructure is integrated with land use planning.

Intermodal (Chair – Andrew Rankin) will focus on intermodal issues, especially to facilitate a greater use of intermodal solutions. International freight, especially containerised freight, would become part of its purview.
