First things first:
- I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their families! I know I did.
- If you were
crazybrave enough to face the crowds for Black Friday shopping, I hope you made it out unscathed! - After preparing for this holiday weekend and shopping, you're probably ready for a break!
These babies will light up your world!
No, seriously. They.are.that.good.
In fact, I made them on Wednesday, but it was too late for photos {lighting issues}. And of course I was busy cooking all morning and half the afternoon, so by the time I was able to photograph them, they were more than half gone!
And after I finished photographing them, my Dad took half of what was left! Everyone else took care of the rest.
I got one. ONE.
And that was only because I took a bite out of it for the photo. {I guess it pays for people to think you have cooties}
Do yourself a favor, take a few minutes to make some for yourself. After a long holiday weekend like this, you're gonna need it!
Here's all you need:
- 12 oz pkg milk chocolate chips
- 1 Tbsp shortening
- 11 oz bag Kraft Caramel Bits
- 3 Tbsp heavy cream
- 1 C pecans
- 1 C cashews
- 1 C almonds
Here's all you do:
- In a double boiler, combine chocolate chips and shortening. Heat until melted, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, in a microwave safe bowl, combine Kraft Caramel Bits and whipping cream. Heat for 1- 1/2 min, stirring every 30 seconds.
- Mix nuts into caramel and drop by tablespoon fulls on parchment paper lined cookie sheets. Let cool.
- Spoon melted chocolate onto caramel nut mixture, being sure to coat sides.
- Let cool in refrigerator or freezer.
Hidestore in air-tight container.
*Makes approx 2 dozen mixed-Up Caramel Turtles
