A Brain Inury/Cerebral Palsy Introduction
One of the most devastating injuries that can occur during birth is a brain injury caused by trauma and/or by decreased oxygen to your baby’s brain. No matter how the injury is caused, the result is serious neurological impairment. Although our support group was originally founded in 1997 to help families with brachial plexus injuries, over the years we have expanded our mission to include providing support to families with children who have suffered other birth injuries. During the past decade plus, we have found that knowledge is one of the most important tools parents can have to enable them to deal, with some degree of confidence, with the present and future challenges the whole family will face as a result of any kind of birth injury.
