The Foundation

The Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club that was established in 2011 supports the Club’s further development, works to expand contacts between Russian and foreign experts, supports young researchers’ projects, and organizes and finances new formats for the Club’s work.

The Foundation is responsible for getting interested organizations and individuals involved in the work of the Club and the Foundation, information and public relations campaigns, publishing, the development and implementation of educational programs and projects, awarding research and education grants and supporting and popularizing the Club’s work.

The Foundation is governed by the Valdai Foundation Council, while its day-to-day operations are managed by the Executive Director. The Foundation Board decides which programs and projects to implement and allocates funding accordingly, based on recommendations by leading foreign members of the club who sit on its Advisory Board. The use of the foundation’s money is supervised by the Board of Trustees that comprises prominent Russian and international academic and public figures.

Pavel Andreev was appointed as the Executive Director of the Foundation in 2011.
